Matsuya will launch its Pork & Kimchi Set Meal at stores nationwide, except some locations, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The dish uses the company’s in-house Fuji Mountain Kimchi together with teppan-grilled pork. The launch was announced in an official notice dated August 20. The set meal costs 890 yen, and the lineup comes in five price tiers, including a bowl style and Double servings. The pork is tossed in Matsuya’s special sauce with garlic sprouts and onions, then grilled on a teppan to a fragrant finish, in what the company presents as a summer staple.

Set meal and bowl styles, five price tiers

The notice lists five items. The base is the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal (890 yen), which comes with rice, fresh vegetable salad, and miso soup. The others are the Double Pork & Kimchi Set Meal (1,380 yen) with a larger serving of meat, the bowl-style Pork & Kimchi Bowl (790 yen) served over rice, the Double Pork & Kimchi Bowl (1,280 yen), and the Pork & Kimchi Only (690 yen), which is the side dish alone. The 100-yen gap between the 790-yen bowl and the 690-yen Only item corresponds to the rice.

In the product photo, the set meal style with a fresh vegetable salad and miso soup is on the left, and the bowl style with miso soup only is on the right. Both feature a deep red kimchi stir-fry topped with white sesame seeds and garlic sprouts. Matsuya is promoting two ways to eat it: “enjoy it as a set meal as is, or as a bowl served over rice.”

This year’s 890 yen is 300 yen (about 50.8%) higher than back then. The Double Set Meal is up 490 yen (about 55.1%) from its 890 yen in 2015, now at 1,380 yen.

890 yen matches the current yakiniku set meals

The 890-yen set meal lines up with the yakiniku set meals, and the Double lands at 1,380 yen, the same as the cheese hamburg steak set meals. Within Matsuya’s price structure, it falls in the mid-range of set meals.

Made with in-house Fuji Mountain Kimchi

The notice states that the kimchi used is the “in-house Fuji Mountain Kimchi.” Matsuya makes this kimchi itself, and on August 9 its official X account revealed that it is produced in-house at the Fuji Mountain factory. Fuji Mountain Kimchi was also adopted as one of the selectable side dishes for the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal, which launched nationwide on July 14, so this is its second appearance at Matsuya this summer after the Twice-cooked Pork. The copy puts the flavor of the kimchi itself front and center, saying it is “spicy with a pleasant tang that whets the appetite.”

The launch is at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. It is available at Matsuya stores nationwide except some locations, and takeout is supported (for takeout, the miso soup costs extra). Shareholder benefit vouchers can be used on all five items. With the announcement on Thursday, August 20 and the launch on the following Tuesday, the schedule follows Matsuya’s usual cycle for new products.

In addition, a coupon for 70 yen off the eligible items will be distributed in the official Matsuya Foods app from 10 a.m. on August 25, the same time as the launch, until 10 a.m. on September 1. The hero image carries the tagline “Get energized with Matsuya’s Pork & Kimchi,” promoting it as a stamina-packed summer menu.
