Matsuya Promotes Store-Limited 'Matsu Shake' Expansion to 30 Stores Across 1 Metropolis and 6 Prefectures on Official X
At 5:28 p.m. on July 12, Matsuya announced on its official X account (@matsuya_foods) that the number of stores carrying its store-limited drink “Matsu Shake” was expanding. The post opened with “Matsuya’s shake is now available at more and more stores!!” and leaned into summer demand with lines like “Perfect for the hot season” and “Go ahead and snap that Instagrammable shot with the shake,” pushing photogenic appeal to the front. The post also included a link to the full list of stores carrying the drink.
Matsu Shake is an unusual shake-style drink for Matsuya, a chain known for its Beef Bowl, and it is offered only at a select group of stores as a store-limited menu item. This latest post appears to be a reminder, just ahead of the height of summer, of how far the list of participating stores has grown.
Matsu Shake’s gradual expansion from 5 stores nationwide
Matsu Shake’s rollout in stores traces back to its launch at 10:00 a.m. on April 21, 2026. Eleven days earlier, on April 10, official X had posted a teaser hinting at the product name: “?!.. Matsu Shake…?” and “April Fools’ is already over, right…?” along with “Stay tuned for more,” a lead-up that connected directly to the actual launch.
At launch, the drink was available at just 5 stores nationwide. It then expanded in two stages — to 12 stores in early June and 30 stores in early July. That works out to a sixfold increase in participating stores in roughly two and a half months since launch. This latest “now expanding” announcement can be read as a push to build on that growing network of stores, timed to demand for the hot season and its photogenic appeal.
Currently available at 30 stores across 1 metropolis and 6 prefectures
As of now, Matsu Shake is available at a total of 30 stores across Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Saitama, Ibaraki, and Yamanashi — 1 metropolis and 6 prefectures in all. Chiba Prefecture has the most, with 9 stores, followed by Tokyo with 7 and Kanagawa with 5. The lineup is concentrated in the southern Kanto region and Shizuoka.

Post photo highlights a roadside store at dusk, leaning into the “photogenic” appeal
The photo attached to the post shows a roadside store at dusk in the background, with a Matsu Shake held up in the foreground. The cup is a clear container with a dome-shaped lid and a black straw, its side printed with the “Matsu Shake” logo in cursive script. Inside, red fruit pulp and sauce swirl marble-like through a white milk base, with the deeper red layer settling toward the bottom — a composition clearly built with a “photogenic shot” in mind.
In the background, Matsuya’s yellow signage and a lit red “IN” sign marking the parking lot entrance are visible, along with the dusk sky and the wide roadside street typical of this kind of location — a shot that evokes a drink enjoyed midway through a drive.
In the lower right of the photo, an illustration of Matsuya’s official mascots, “Macky & Yakky,” holding a Beef Bowl is layered in, accompanied by the phrase “Coming through for a sec.” It’s a playful touch tying together the idea of a summer drive with the store-limited shake.
