Matsuya will launch the limited-time menu item “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal” (880 yen, tax included) at stores nationwide, excluding some locations, at 10:00 AM on July 14, 2026. The set meal offers a choice of two side dishes, Kimchi or Soft-boiled Egg, and appears on the Matsuya menu as “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal with Kimchi” and “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal with Soft-boiled Egg.” The lineup was first announced in an official notice on July 9 alongside a renewal of the Chinese-style sauce, and on July 10 the official X account previewed the two side dishes—the fiery “Fujisan Kimchi” and the rich, melting Soft-boiled Egg—now confirmed as the final pairing.

Nutritional Value Changes with Your Side Dish Choice — Both Only Options Cost 680 Yen

According to the official announcement, “Twice-cooked Pork, a hugely popular item in Matsuya’s stamina-boosting Chinese-style lineup, returns again this year for a limited time.” This year’s Chinese-style sauce has been renewed into an authentic version pursuing sweetness, richness, and just the right amount of spice. The dish—cabbage, green pepper, carrot, and onion stir-fried with juicy pork—is promoted on nutritional grounds as providing half of a day’s recommended vegetable intake in a single serving.

The set meal comes with a choice of two side dishes: Kimchi, which adds a sharp kick of spice, and Soft-boiled Egg, which brings rich, mellow depth. The official announcement recommends Kimchi for those who want more heat and Soft-boiled Egg for those who want more mellowness. Soft-boiled Egg is normally sold separately on the side menu for 100 yen, but it can be chosen for free as part of the set meal.

Size Side Dish Price Energy Protein Fat Carbohydrates Salt Equivalent
Only (None) 680 yen 515 kcal 19.4g 37.7g 25.8g 3.0g
Set Meal Kimchi 880 yen 939 kcal 27.7g 40.2g 114.2g 6.3g
Set Meal Soft-boiled Egg 880 yen 966 kcal 32.1g 44.5g 105.7g 4.7g
Double Kimchi 1,370 yen 1,455 kcal 47.1g 77.9g 140.0g 9.3g
Double Soft-boiled Egg 1,370 yen 1,481 kcal 51.5g 82.2g 131.5g 7.7g

Since the Only option consists of just the Twice-cooked Pork itself, it comes to exactly 515 kcal and 3.0g of salt equivalent regardless of whether you order it under the Kimchi or Soft-boiled Egg item number. The Set Meal, however, adds rice and salad along with the side dish, so the nutritional value diverges clearly depending on which side dish you choose. The Kimchi Set Meal runs higher in sodium, as befits a fermented food, with 114.2g of carbohydrates and 6.3g of salt equivalent, while the Soft-boiled Egg Set Meal pushes protein and fat higher, at 32.1g and 44.5g respectively, even as its salt equivalent drops to 4.7g. Across the Only, Set Meal, and Double sizes, there is no price difference between the side dishes—the pricing is designed so that only the flavor direction and nutritional balance shift with your choice of side dish.

Priced Between the Stir-fried with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal and the Boneless Short Rib Yakiniku Set Meal

Lined up against the current set meal lineup, the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal lands right in the middle of the price range. At 880 yen, the Set Meal is 30 yen more than the Stir-fried with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal (850 yen) and 10 yen less than the Beef Yakiniku Set Meal or Boneless Short Rib Yakiniku Set Meal (890 yen each). The 680 yen Only and 1,370 yen Double options hold the same relative position, so no matter which size you choose, it lands in the middle band of the set meal lineup.

Size Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal Stir-fried with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal Beef Yakiniku Set Meal Boneless Short Rib Yakiniku Set Meal
Set Meal 880 yen 850 yen 890 yen 890 yen
Double 1,370 yen 1,340 yen 1,380 yen 1,380 yen
Only 680 yen 650 yen 690 yen 690 yen

Going from the 680 yen Only to the 880 yen Set Meal, the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal adds rice, salad, and a side dish for a +200 yen step. That’s exactly the same price gap as the Stir-fried with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal launched on July 7 (650 yen Only / 850 yen Set Meal), and the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal follows the same pricing pattern as part of a trend, now in its second consecutive week, of Matsuya rolling out limited-time set meals at 10 AM on Tuesdays in July.

To mark the launch, Matsuya’s official X account also announced on the morning of the same day a sweepstakes campaign celebrating the release of Twice-cooked Pork, offering 1,000 Matsuya Points to 30 winners.

Editor's Note

Same 880 yen, but do you go bold with spice or smooth with egg yolk? One side dish changes the whole personality of the meal, so it makes me want to come back two days in a row to try both.
