Today’s Star Item: “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal,” With a Choice of Side Dish
The dish at the center of this commemorative campaign, the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal, features cabbage, green pepper, carrot, onion, and pork stir-fried in a sweet-and-savory Chinese-style sauce and finished with white sesame seeds. This time it comes with a choice of side dish: a mellow, melt-in-the-mouth Soft-boiled Egg, or the fiery Mt. Fuji Kimchi.
On the menu, both “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal (Soft-boiled Egg)” and “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal (Kimchi)” are priced at 880 yen, and sales began as previously announced, from 10:00 a.m. on July 14.
A Two-Step Rollout: Official Announcement → X Preview → Same-Day Campaign
This commemorative campaign caps off a rollout that began with the release announcement. On July 9, Matsuya’s official notice touted the launch of Twice-cooked Pork under the tagline “The authentic Chinese-style sauce evolves further.” Then, at 6:00 p.m. on July 10, the official X account previewed the release date and time: “10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.” Four days after that preview, on the release day itself, the commemorative campaign went live.
Also on July 14, a new dessert item, the mellow and rich “Soy Milk Pudding” (180 yen), joined the menu. The Soy Milk Pudding was likewise announced separately in the July 9 official notice, making it a simultaneous new addition alongside Twice-cooked Pork.
A Recurring Format for Every New Product Launch
This combination — 1,000 Matsuya Points, 30 winners by lottery, Follow & Repost — is in fact a recurring format Matsuya uses to mark new product launches. Looking back at recent launch campaigns alone, nearly identical terms have been used for “Yatara Beef Bowl” (July 7), “Hamburg Steak Set Meal with Brown Sauce” (June 30), and “Fluffy Egg Grilled Eel Bowl” (June 23) — each time a new product debuts. Twice-cooked Pork now joins that same lineage.
By contrast, collaboration campaigns such as those tied to ONE PIECE offer different prizes altogether, including 5,000 Matsuya Points or branded merchandise, clearly setting them apart from standard launch campaigns. The 1,000 points to 30 winners on offer this time reads as a straightforward case of the standard “new product launch” format.
Editor's Note
Getting a shot at 1,000 points on launch day itself is a great start for Twice-cooked Pork fans.
