Matsuya's Official X Announces Two Teppan-Grilled Bowl Dishes Including 'Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl,' Launching August 11
At 6:00 PM on August 7, Matsuya’s official X account announced two new bowl dishes launching at 10:00 AM on August 11: the ‘Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl’ and ‘Matsuya’s Yakiniku Beef Bowl.’ The post described them as “blissful bowl dishes finished with beef grilled to a fragrant crisp on a teppan griddle,” presenting the pair as hearty, satisfying options. The launch had already been announced in an official Matsuya website notice dated August 6, and this post restates that announcement in the official X account’s own voice.
Two Dishes Finished to a Fragrant Crisp on the Teppan
The image accompanying the post features the bold copy “Iron Plate, Straight to the Point.” At the top, beef sizzles and steams on a teppan griddle, while the bowl at the center is piled high with ingredients. The left half, the ‘Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl,’ is topped with what appears to be green garlic shoots and sesame seeds, while the right half, ‘Matsuya’s Yakiniku Beef Bowl,’ is topped with chopped green onion, onion, and sesame seeds — composed so that a single image lets viewers compare both dishes side by side.
According to the official website notice, the ‘Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl’ is priced at 990 yen, while ‘Matsuya’s Yakiniku Beef Bowl’ is priced at 600 yen for Small Serving, 630 yen for Regular Serving, and 850 yen for Large Serving. The “630 yen” shown alongside the image corresponds to the Regular Serving of the Yakiniku Beef Bowl. Both dishes will be available at Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores, starting at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 11.
A Classic Yakiniku Flavor in Bowl Form, and a Fresh Debut for Offal
The “Yakiniku Beef” in ‘Matsuya’s Yakiniku Beef Bowl’ refers to the seasoning currently served at Matsuya as the ‘Yakiniku Beef Set Meal’ (890 yen) and ‘Yakiniku Beef Fresh Vegetable Salad Set’ (850 yen), now reworked into bowl form. “Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib” likewise remains on the current menu as the ‘Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib Set Meal’ (890 yen), and Matsuya’s official X account posted about eating this set meal on June 8, calling it “one of our classic menu items.” The new bowl can be positioned as a way to enjoy the flavor of a Matsuya classic in a more casual, bowl-style format.
The ‘Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl,’ on the other hand, stands out among Matsuya’s bowl dishes. Looking across both Matsuya’s regular menu and its store-limited offerings, dishes featuring offal are rare, making a bowl built around teppan-grilled offal a fresh combination. It has been since the pork-based ‘Original Salt-based Green Onion Thick Pork Boneless Short Rib Bowl’ (690 yen) disappeared in April that a bowl menu item carrying the name “Boneless Short Rib” has appeared in the bowl category, marking the return of a short rib bowl to Matsuya’s lineup after some time away.
A Four-Stage Rollout of the Launch Announcement
Matsuya built up to today’s announcement of these two dishes in stages. On August 4, the description of the ‘New Grilled Beef Bowl’ (690 yen), on sale since March 2026, gained the note “*To Be Discontinued Successively” on the official website. The following morning, August 5, the official X account teased the arrival of a successor menu with the post “A new menu item to replace the New Grilled Beef Bowl is coming…?!” On August 6, an official notice formally announced the launch of the ‘Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl’ and ‘Matsuya’s Yakiniku Beef Bowl.’ Then, on the evening of August 7, this latest post reaffirmed the launch with photos of the actual dishes. That said, the official website has not explicitly stated whether these two new items are in fact successors to the ‘New Grilled Beef Bowl’ — the timing simply overlaps.
Earlier that same day, at midday on August 7, Matsuya’s official X account had already swapped the announcement thumbnail image for these two dishes from an illustration to an actual photo, continuing a pattern of switching to real photography as the launch date approaches. With the August 11 launch now just days away, these two new bowl dishes, built around the fragrant sizzle of teppan grilling, are finally about to arrive at Matsuya locations nationwide.
Editor's Note
With a Yakiniku Beef Bowl and a Short Rib & Offal Bowl both hot off the teppan, it's hard not to want to order both.
