Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted “Only 725 to go (´∀`)” at 10:18 p.m. on October 2, 2026. The post contains no product name, date, URL, or image — just a single line mentioning a specific remaining count of “725 people.”

The Previous Post Kept the Number Hidden

Matsuya’s official X account had also posted on September 16 at 9:44 p.m., saying, “Our follower count is almost at… though saying that might make it go down. (╹◡╹)” That post hinted that the follower count was approaching some kind of milestone, without giving a specific number.

Sixteen days later, this latest post gives a specific remaining count: “725 to go.” It appears to follow up on the earlier post about the follower count, and no posts between September 17 and October 2 appear to mention the follower count. However, the post itself does not state which follower milestone “725 to go” refers to.

An Emoticon Different From Everyday Use

The emoticon attached this time, “(´∀`)”, differs from the “(╹◡╹)” that appears in most of Matsuya’s official X posts, and rarely shows up otherwise. The text itself is also short — just 13 characters in the original Japanese — a single brief line. Following the previous post’s “though saying that might make it go down,” this is again a short post consisting of just one line touching on a number.

Milestone Announcements Have Followed Before

Matsuya’s official X account has marked follower milestones with commemorative announcements in the past. Official announcements dated April 24 and 27, 2024 introduced a campaign commemorating “reaching 500,000 followers.” It is not stated which later milestone this “725 to go” is counting down to, but past announcements show that Matsuya’s official X account has repeatedly made posts conscious of follower milestones.

Separately, Matsuya also announced in a late-September notice that membership in the Matsuya App had reached 6 million users — a different metric from the X account’s follower count.

Once the countdown tweets start, even I get a little restless watching.
