Matsuya’s in-store-only menu item “Mini Cold Udon,” which had been sold at select stores this summer, was discontinued at every store that carried it as of August 24, 2026. Launched on August 4, the dine-in-only bowl was offered for about three weeks at 290 yen as a standalone item. A Light Bowl of Udon for 290 Yen, In-Store Only

“Mini Cold Udon” went on sale at 10:00 a.m. on August 4, 2026, at select stores nationwide as an in-store-only menu item. It was priced at 290 yen as a standalone item and was dine-in only, with no takeout. Sales hours were also restricted, running from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. the next day, so it was offered only outside the midday rush. It was also a rare noodle item among Matsuya’s store-limited menu offerings.

The promotional image shows a bowl of thin udon noodles in a red-inside, black-outside bowl, topped with sliced scallions and grated ginger, with clear ice cubes alongside. A seigaiha wave pattern background, blue maple leaves, and ice illustrations accompany the tagline “Easy to slurp down, just the right size!”, giving it a cool, summery look. The image carries the label “In-store only (no takeout)” and states “Sales hours: 3 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next day” at the bottom.

About Three Weeks From Launch to Discontinuation

The launch had been announced in advance on the official X account on July 31. The post said, “Mini Cold Udon goes on sale at select stores from 10 a.m. on August 4,” and also noted that sales hours were limited.

On the first day of sales, 634 stores carried it. Soon after, two stores, Matsuya Hibarigaoka Store (0084) and Matsuya Ueno Store (0224), were removed from the list, bringing the count to 632, and it stayed at 632 until all stores dropped it from the listing around noon on August 24.

Many store-limited menu items rotate out within a few weeks, so about three weeks puts “Mini Cold Udon” on the longer side. While the launch was announced on the official X account, no announcement about its discontinuation has been found on either the official X account or the news page.

632 Stores Across 35 Prefectures Carried It

“Mini Cold Udon” was available at 632 stores across 35 prefectures, roughly half of all Matsuya stores nationwide. Tokyo stood out by prefecture, followed by the prefectures below in order of store count.

On the other hand, in 11 prefectures (Okinawa, Oita, Kagoshima, Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Akita, Aomori, Kochi, Nagasaki, Saga, and Shimane), there were operating stores but none carried it. This means southern Kyushu, Okinawa, northern Tohoku, and parts of Shikoku were excluded from the start.
