On the night of October 7, Matsuya’s official X account (formerly Twitter) announced that two mega-sized bowls sold for one day only on Meat Day, August 29, will be offered again for one week starting October 13. The account framed it as another chance for those who missed out on August 29.

Following the Promise of a Possible All-Store Promotion in October

The post quotes the August 29 post. In that post, the account said of the two mega-sized items, “If these two items are well received on Meat Day, we’ll promote them to all stores around October, so please cheer us on (´∀｀)”, conditionally suggesting they could be promoted chainwide in October depending on the response.

The new post, about 40 days later, reads “Thank you for your support (´∀｀) It’s only for one week from 10/13, but we’re waiting for those of you who missed out on Meat Day, 8/29, to take on the challenge!” This serves as the answer to the August promise. However, what was announced is a limited-time return for “one week from October 13,” and nothing states that the items have been promoted to regular menu items at Matsuya stores nationwide. It is also unclear from the post whether the items will be sold at all stores or only some. As of October 7, the return had been announced only on the official X account, and no corresponding notice could be found on the news page of the official website.

Both the quoted August 29 post and the new post end with the same emoticon, “(´∀｀)”. The August 29 post says “please cheer us on,” and the new one says “thank you for your support,” a request and a thank-you that mirror each other.

What the One-Day-Only Mega “Large Serving” Was

The two items on the August 29 Meat Day campaign were the Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl (Large Serving) and the Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl (Large Serving). According to the official notice dated August 25, the Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl (Large Serving) cost 1,200 yen and the Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl (Large Serving) cost 1,140 yen. Both were “Large Serving” versions with an extra-large serving of rice and twice the meat of the regular large serving. Orders were limited to Matsuben Net and Matsuya Mobile Order, and sales ran for a single day, from 0:00 to 23:59 on August 29.

The base Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl went on sale on March 28 and is still a regular menu item. The Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl went on sale on June 30 as the successor to the Salt-based Green Onion Bowl, which debuted on April 21 and was discontinued on May 19. This time, the mega-sized versions of these two items are returning with a sales window extended from the single day on August 29 to one week.
