Matsuya's Official X Account Posts Taste-Test Reports on the 'Grilled Chicken w/ Chili Sauce Meal' for Two Days Straight
Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) published a post just after 9 PM on October 22 claiming to have actually eaten the Chinese-style version of “Gorochiki,” the “Grilled Chicken w/ Chili Sauce Meal,” which launched on October 20. Following the previous day’s post on October 21, this marks the second consecutive day of taste-test reports on the same item.
The Iron Plate Dish Featured in the Post
The post opens in the first person: “I also ate the ‘Grilled Chicken w/ Chili Sauce Meal’ ( ¯꒳¯ ),” listing three elements — “chunky chicken, tangy spicy chili sauce, and fluffy soft-set egg” — and adding, “They all go together perfectly🤤.” It closes with, “This might just be a side dish whose sole purpose is to make you want a second bowl of rice…,” ending with, “Everyone, please give it a try!”
The accompanying photo shows a sizzling iron plate topped with fluffy egg, piled generously with large-cut chunks of chicken, all smothered in a hearty serving of orange chili sauce. Finely chopped scallion sits in the center.
Phrasing Borrowed from the Official Announcement
Some of the wording in the post overlaps with the official announcement dated October 15, “The long-awaited ‘Chinese-style version’ arrives from the popular series!” The post’s “I can’t stop eating the rice🍚” echoes the announcement’s closing line, “It’s truly a flavor that won’t let your rice stop disappearing.” Likewise, “tangy spicy chili sauce” corresponds to the announcement’s “The spicy doubanjiang and the sweet-and-sour chili sauce intertwine for a deep richness and kick.” The closing line, “Everyone, please give it a try!” serves the same role as the announcement’s “Please be sure to try it on this occasion.”
On the other hand, the first-person narration “I also ate ~” and the line “This might just be a side dish whose sole purpose is to make you want a second bowl of rice…” have no counterpart in the announcement text and appear to have been written specifically for the post.
The emoticon “( ¯꒳¯ )” at the end of the post is a recurring staple that the official account has used repeatedly since its first appearance in a post on June 2, appearing 76 times as of this post. The drooling emoji 🤤 has also appeared repeatedly in the account’s past “I ate it” / “I had it” style posts.
Seven Posts in One Week Since Launch, Second Taste-Test Report
Regarding the “Grilled Chicken w/ Chili Sauce Meal,” the official X account has published seven posts over seven days, from the launch announcement on October 16 through today’s post on October 22. That’s a notably high number compared to the previous entry in the same “Gorochiki” series, “Neo Kashmir Chunky Chicken Curry and Rice,” which received four posts around its launch, and the “Hearty Serving Beef Plate Meal,” which was running concurrently and received just one.
As for the official account’s own taste-test reports, the first came in the October 21 post, making today’s the second. In between, on the evening of October 22, the account also referenced and quote-reposted fan posts discussing the item.
The “Grilled Chicken w/ Chili Sauce Meal” launched at 10 AM on October 20, 2026, at Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores. The set meal is priced at 990 yen (tax included), pairing the popular “Gorochiki” series with a Chinese-style chili sauce.
Editor's Note
Two days of taste-test reports in a row is some serious enthusiasm. This looks like a dish that'll have you reaching for a second bowl of rice.
