Matsuya's Matsunoya to Release "Domestic Snow Country-Raised" Loin Katsu Set Meal at Just 15 Stores

Matsunoya’s “Domestic Snow Country-Raised” Loin Katsu Set Meal has been added to Matsuya’s store-limited menu list. It is priced at 990 yen, and the announcement image states that sales begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21. It will be sold at just 15 stores across 10 prefectures nationwide.

Domestic Pork Loin Katsu, Crafted with a White Coating and Low-Temperature Frying

The top right of the announcement image carries the “Tonkatsu Matsunoya” logo, alongside large vertical text reading “Domestic Pork.” On a black plate sit a loin katsu cutlet sliced into 5 pieces and shredded cabbage. The coating is described as “a carefully crafted white coating pursuing a crisp texture and a smooth melt-in-the-mouth feel,” with the note: “We fry it slowly at a lower temperature than usual to lock in the flavor, finishing it with a moist, juicy texture.” At the bottom right of the plate, a red circle reads “Comes with Red Salt,” and the loin katsu is served with red salt. A note at the bottom of the image also reads, “*Please note it may take some time to prepare.”

Available at 15 Stores Across 10 Prefectures, with 6 Concentrated in Tokyo

The item will be sold at 15 stores nationwide. The breakdown by prefecture is as follows. Tokyo has the most, with 6 stores, while the remaining 9 prefectures each have one store.

Rather than a simultaneous nationwide launch, this is a rollout at a select group of stores centered on the Kanto region, with scattered outposts extending into Tokai, Kinki, and the Hokushin’etsu area. The participating stores can be checked at Target Stores.

“Domestic Snow Country-Raised” Pork, From Grilled to Fried

“Domestic Snow Country-Raised” is also the branded pork that Matsuya used in June 2025. The “Domestic Snow Country-Raised Thick Pork Steak Set Meal,” announced on June 19, and its second installment, the “Domestic Snow Country-Raised Thick Pork Steak Set Meal with Chaliapin Sauce,” announced on June 26, were both dishes made by grilling thickly cut pork. This time, the same branded pork has been switched to a fried preparation as loin katsu, offered as a store-limited item on the Tonkatsu Matsunoya menu.

Matsuya and Matsunoya’s Loin Katsu Set Meal has repeatedly appeared in flavor-changing versions such as Umatoma and Shkmeruli, but this time, rather than a flavor-changing sauce, the dish puts the white coating, the low-temperature frying method, and the domestic branded pork itself front and center.
