Matsuya Minami-Rinkan Store Reopens at 3 PM Today After 8-Day Temporary Closure

Temporary closure schedules shifted one after another at three Matsuya locations in Kanagawa Prefecture. Sakuragicho Store (0350) and Kawasaki Ginzagai Store (0154), both of which had suspended operations for renovation and other reasons, resume operations today, September 14, at 3 PM. Meanwhile, it has come to light that Minami-Rinkan Store (0857) in Yamato City will newly enter a temporary closure starting September 28 at 3 PM. All three cases involve the temporary closure of the store itself, distinct from suspending operations during specific hours such as late night.

Two stores resuming as scheduled at 3 PM today

Sakuragicho Store in Hanasakicho, Naka Ward, Yokohama City, had suspended operations since 3 PM on August 17. The closure period ran about 28 days, with operations resuming at 3 PM on September 14. This schedule was announced in the store information on the official website as of August 6, and the reopening is proceeding as announced.

Kawasaki Ginzagai Store in Sunako, Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki City, had suspended operations since 3 PM on September 4. The closure period was 10 days, and the September 14, 3 PM reopening was likewise announced as of August 21, with operations resuming exactly as scheduled. Both stores had a notation indicating temporary closure appended to the end of their store names during the closure, but this has reverted to the standard notation to coincide with the reopening.

Store Closure Start Reopening Closure Period
Sakuragicho Store August 17, 3 PM September 14, 3 PM About 28 days
Kawasaki Ginzagai Store September 4, 3 PM September 14, 3 PM 10 days

Minami-Rinkan Store enters an 8-day temporary closure from September 28

As if in exchange, a new temporary closure schedule has been announced for Minami-Rinkan Store in Minami-Rinkan, Yamato City. Operations are set to be suspended at 3 PM on September 28, with reopening planned at 3 PM on October 6, making for an 8-day closure period. This is a shorter timeframe compared to Sakuragicho Store’s roughly 28 days and Kawasaki Ginzagai Store’s 10 days, suggesting a short-term closure for renovation or equipment upgrades. Since the reopening date has already been announced, those visiting the area will need to plan around this period.

The state of Matsuya in Kanagawa Prefecture

The three stores whose schedules shifted this time are all located in Kanagawa Prefecture, but their locations are spread across Yokohama City, Kawasaki City, and Yamato City, rather than concentrated in a specific area. Kanagawa Prefecture currently has 112 existing Matsuya stores, the second-highest count nationwide after Tokyo’s 337 stores. With such a large base, temporary closures for renovation and maintenance tend to occur in various locations.

Looking nationwide as of today, roughly 10 Matsuya stores, including Minami-Rinkan Store, are either temporarily closed or scheduled for closure, with some stores having gone months without a stated reopening date. Since all three stores covered here have their reopening dates clearly announced, this is a case where customers can more easily anticipate the timeline.

Editor's Note

It's quite a busy coincidence that a post-renovation reopening and a new closure both land on the same day in Kanagawa.
