Matsuya to Launch Store-Limited 'Pork Chap Set Meal' (950 yen) at 70 Stores Nationwide on September 15
Store-limited item ‘Pork Chap Set Meal’ launches at 70 stores nationwide at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, priced at 950 yen. It’s listed with a product photo on Matsuya’s official store-limited page, and is one of four store-limited items launching the same day at 10 a.m. on September 15.
A Sweet-and-Tangy Sauce Packed with Tomato, Onion, and Garlic
The product photo shows a thick cut of pork topped with a deep red sauce and large pieces of onion, shot mid-pour as the sauce is ladled over the top. The accompanying tagline reads “A luxurious harmony of tartness and sweetness,” and the sauce is described as using tomato, onion, and garlic. The set comes with a corn, cucumber, and cabbage salad, served in set meal style with rice and salad. The image also notes that takeout orders do not include miso soup.
27 Prefectures, 70 Stores — Thin in Saitama, Thick in Chiba
The item is available at 70 stores nationwide, spanning 27 prefectures. The number of participating stores by prefecture is as follows.
- Tokyo: 15 stores
- Chiba Prefecture: 9 stores
- Osaka Prefecture: 6 stores
- Kanagawa Prefecture: 6 stores
- Aichi Prefecture: 4 stores
- Gunma Prefecture: 3 stores
- Hyogo, Saitama, Hiroshima, Niigata, Fukuoka, and Shizuoka Prefectures: 2 stores each
- Kyoto, Hokkaido, Wakayama, Oita, Nara, Toyama, Gifu, Tokushima, Ehime, Shiga, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Nagano, Kochi, and Kagoshima Prefectures: 1 store each
The top five (Tokyo, Chiba, Osaka, Kanagawa, and Aichi) account for 40 stores, or about 60% of the total. Looking at the share of stores carrying the item within each prefecture, however, the distribution is far from even. In Saitama Prefecture, only 2 of the prefecture’s 103 stores (about 1.9%) carry it, while in Chiba Prefecture, 9 of 77 stores (about 11.7%) do — a higher rate than Tokyo, Osaka, Kanagawa, or Saitama, all of which have more stores overall. Matsuya has not disclosed the reason for this difference in coverage.
Of the 70 participating stores, 35 are co-located with Matsunoya, splitting evenly with stand-alone Matsuya locations. The full list of participating stores can be found on the official participating stores page.
One of Four Store-Limited Items Launching the Same Day, September 15
At 10 a.m. on September 15, four store-limited items launch simultaneously, including this Pork Chap Set Meal. Two of them — the Pork Chap Set Meal and the “Teriyaki Egg Hamburg Steak & Teriyaki Egg Chicken Set Meal” — are rolling out at the full 70-store scale, while the remaining item, “Chunky Chicken Marengo-style Set Meal,” comes in two variants, Fond de Veau and Tomato, each available at 35 stores. As of September 10, none of these four items had appeared in official announcements, the official X account, or Matsuya App notifications — they are currently listed only in advance on the store-limited page of Matsuya’s official website.
A Precedent That Went Nationwide, and One That Vanished in 8 Days
Some store-limited items simply run their course, while others later expand into a nationwide limited-time menu item. Among grilled pork dishes, “Grilled Thick Pork with Chimichurri Sauce” first appeared as a 70-store store-limited item in March, then joined the nationwide limited-time menu from May 19 at 1,280 yen for the set meal and 1,180 yen for the rice set, selling through June 23. By contrast, “Diavola-style Grilled Chicken,” which launched as a 70-store store-limited item in April, disappeared from the store-limited list after about 8 days, with no confirmed nationwide rollout since. Because some store-limited items go nationwide only after a gap, delisting doesn’t necessarily rule out a future nationwide rollout. What becomes of the Pork Chap Set Meal will depend on how things unfold after launch.
Editor's Note
That sweet-and-tangy ketchup flavor with onion and garlic — the kind that makes plain rice disappear fast. Whether you're near a participating store will decide your fate here.
