As of October 6, the official menu page for Matsuya’s “Spinach and Cottage Cheese Chicken Curry and Rice” (960 yen), which launched on September 22, 2026, displays the note “※To be discontinued successively.” That is a discontinuation notice just 14 days, or about two weeks, after launch. The three other “Spinach and Cottage Cheese” curries released alongside it on the same day carry no such note at present.
Only the Chicken Curry, One of Four Items, Got the Note
All four “Spinach and Cottage Cheese” curries joined Matsuya’s curry lineup together on September 22. Built around a spinach and cottage cheese Indian curry (palak paneer), the lineup is priced in tiers according to the topping.
| Item | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Spinach and Cottage Cheese Curry and Rice | 780 yen | — |
| Spinach and Cottage Cheese Chicken Curry and Rice | 960 yen | ※To be discontinued successively |
| Spinach and Cottage Cheese Karegyu | 1,050 yen | — |
| Spinach and Cottage Cheese Loin Cutlet Curry and Rice | 1,170 yen | — |
Of the four items, only the Chicken Curry (960 yen) shows the planned-discontinuation note. The other three have no note, and their prices and menu listings remain unchanged.
Looking at the markup over the base 780-yen curry, chicken adds 180 yen (960 yen), Karegyu adds 270 yen (1,050 yen), and Loin Cutlet adds 390 yen (1,170 yen). The chicken, the smallest upcharge of the three upgrades, is the one slated to leave the menu ahead of the beef (Karegyu) and the loin cutlet.
How Long Can You Still Get It?
The official menu page does not state when the discontinuation will take effect. The note reads “※To be discontinued successively” and gives no specific date.
Matsuya has repeatedly swapped out its curries when introducing new ones, with the “※To be discontinued successively” note appearing on existing curries. Looking back at similar past curry changeovers, it took 1 to 2 weeks (roughly 7 to 14 days) from the note appearing to the item actually disappearing from the menu page. Since no date is given, we can’t say for certain, but if the same pattern holds, the next one to two weeks looks like a rough guide.
In addition, the number of days from launch to the appearance of a discontinuation note in past curry changeovers was 21, 15, 21, and 28 days. At 14 days, this Chicken Curry is shorter than any of those four cases.
Price and Nutrition Information
At 960 yen, the price sits in the upper-middle of the 15 curries currently on sale. Just below are the 950-yen “Founding Beef Karegyu” and “Neo Kashmir Karegyu,” and just above are the 1,050-yen “Spinach and Cottage Cheese Karegyu” and “Neo Kashmir Chunky Chicken Curry and Rice.” No other item shares the 960-yen price point, making it a price all its own.
Nutrition information for the regular serving is as follows.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Price | 960 yen |
| Energy | 928 kcal |
| Protein | 21.3 g |
| Fat | 44.1 g |
| Carbohydrates | 107.3 g |
| Salt equivalent | 5.2 g |
Also, an app-exclusive coupon for up to 100 yen off the same series’ curry (780 yen) was distributed from September 22 to 29, but it has since ended.
Six New “Neo Kashmir” Curries Arrive the Same Day
October 6, the day the discontinuation note appeared on the Chicken Curry, was also the day six items from the new “Neo Kashmir Curry” series were added to the menu page. The six are Neo Kashmir Curry and Rice (680 yen), Neo Kashmir Cheese Curry and Rice (880 yen), Neo Kashmir Hamburg Steak Curry and Rice (890 yen), Neo Kashmir Karegyu (950 yen), Neo Kashmir Chunky Chicken Curry and Rice (1,050 yen), and Neo Kashmir Loin Cutlet Curry and Rice (1,070 yen). The new series, a rebuild of popular curries from My Curry Shokudo, the curry specialty chain of the Matsuya group, had been announced for release in an official notice dated October 1.
In past curry changeovers, there was a gap of one to two weeks between the discontinuation note appearing and the new series being introduced. This time, however, the notice for the Chicken Curry and the arrival of the six “Neo Kashmir Curry” items happened on the same day. As of October 6, the four “Spinach and Cottage Cheese” items also remain on the menu page, listed alongside the six Neo Kashmir items.
Editor's Note
The 180-yen chicken upgrade was the easiest of the three tiers to reach for, so if you've had your eye on it, you'll probably want to go sooner rather than later.
