Matsuya Numazu Higashishiiji Branch Drops 'Opening Soon' Notice from Official Site, Now Listed as Regular Store

StoreUpdated

The official website of the beef bowl chain Matsuya has updated its listing for Matsuya Numazu Higashishiiji (No. 2271) in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, removing the “*Opening July 11 at 10:00” notice that had previously accompanied the store name. The scheduled opening date and time (July 11 at 10:00), which had also been listed, no longer appear, and the store’s listing has switched from a pre-opening notice to that of a regularly operating store. The store opened as announced on July 11, and the official site listing now matches that of a formally operating branch.

The new opening of the Numazu Higashishiiji branch on July 11 had been announced in advance. Following this update, the store name now appears as “Matsuya Numazu Higashishiiji (co-located with Matsunoya),” listed in the same format as other operating stores.

Third Store in Numazu City, Adding Another Matsuya to the City

Matsuya Numazu Higashishiiji is located at 515-1 Higashishiiji, Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and is co-located with the tonkatsu chain Matsunoya. This makes it the third Matsuya store in Numazu City, following Matsuya Numazu (No. 0554) in Tsutsuicho and Matsuya Numazu-Minami (No. 0615) in Kamikanuki.

Store Name Location (within Numazu City)
Matsuya Numazu Tsutsuicho
Matsuya Numazu-Minami Kamikanuki
Matsuya Numazu Higashishiiji 515-1 Higashishiiji

Where the two existing stores were spread across the city on either side of Numazu Station, the addition of a new store in the Higashishiiji area has steadily expanded Matsuya’s coverage within the city. A density of three stores in a city of roughly 190,000 people shows that this is an area with a strong Matsuya presence even within eastern Shizuoka Prefecture.

Opening Co-located with Matsunoya, a Format Continuing Across Shizuoka Prefecture

Numazu Higashishiiji operates as a combined-format store co-located with Matsunoya, covering both Beef Bowl and Tonkatsu under one roof. Within Shizuoka Prefecture, this Matsunoya co-located format accounts for the majority of Matsuya stores, with single-brand stores actually being the minority.

New Matsunoya co-located stores have continued to open across Shizuoka Prefecture since this spring, with Matsuya Fujieda Tsukiji (co-located with Matsunoya) newly opening in Fujieda City in April. This suggests that combining the Beef Bowl and Tonkatsu formats into a single store is becoming the standard opening pattern within the prefecture. Numazu Higashishiiji’s move into formal operation can be seen as an extension of this trend.

With the official site’s listing switching from a pre-opening notice to a regular listing, the new store — the third in Numazu City — has now entered the operating stage in both name and substance.

Editor's Note

The moment the line "*Opening July 11 at 10:00" quietly disappeared, leaving just another open-for-business store. It's a small change, but it feels like a nice sign that the new store has settled into everyday life.
