Matsuya Tsuyama Store Ends 24-Hour Operation, Becomes Okayama Prefecture's Only Non-24-Hour Location

Matsuya Tsuyama Store (2256) has ended its previous 24-hour operation, changing its hours to 8:00 AM–10:00 PM (last order 15 minutes before closing). This effectively suspends operations during the late-night and early-morning hours.

The Only Store in Okayama Prefecture to Drop Late-Night Operation

Matsuya operates 9 stores in Okayama Prefecture: Kurashiki Mizushima Store, Kurashiki Tamashima Store, Okayama Shimonakano Store, Okayama Tokaichi Store, Okayama Omotecho Store, Okayama Ekimae Store, Okayama Eki-Nishiguchi Store, Soja Store, and Tsuyama Store. Of these, Tsuyama Store is the only one affected by this change. The remaining 8 stores all continue operating 24 hours, making Tsuyama Store the only one in the prefecture that doesn’t operate during late-night hours.

Tsuyama Store is also the only Matsuya located in Tsuyama City, an inland city in the northern part of the prefecture. Its location differs significantly from the other 8 stores, which are all clustered in the southern part of the prefecture, in Okayama City, Kurashiki City, and Soja City.

It is also a store with a co-located Matsunoya, bringing the total number of Matsunoya co-located stores in Okayama Prefecture to 7, including Kurashiki Mizushima Store, Kurashiki Tamashima Store, Okayama Tokaichi Store, Okayama Omotecho Store, Okayama Ekimae Store, and Soja Store.

A Crack Appears Soon After All Stores Aligned on 24-Hour Operation

In Okayama Prefecture, once Okayama Eki-Nishiguchi Store switched to 24-hour operation, all 9 stores in the prefecture were aligned on 24-hour operation. With this change at Tsuyama Store, that newly achieved “all stores in the prefecture open 24 hours” status has already lost one of its pieces.

Ending 24-hour operation isn’t a move unique to Tsuyama Store. Since April 2026, multiple stores have dropped 24-hour operation in favor of shorter hours. The hours adopted after each change vary from store to store, suggesting individual store-by-store decisions rather than a uniform policy.

That said, 24-hour operation remains the norm across Matsuya as a whole. As of now, 973 of the chain’s 1,208 stores — roughly 80% — still operate 24 hours. The review of 24-hour operation is proceeding gradually, store by store, rather than across the entire chain at once.
