Matsuya Gokasho Store Reopens After About 24 Days as a Matsunoya Co-located Store

Two temporarily closed Matsuya locations, Gokasho Store (0634) and Nakamurabashi Store (0213), have both returned to normal operation exactly as scheduled in their prior announcements. On Matsuya’s official store list, the temporary closure notices attached to both store names have been removed, along with the listed closure and reopening dates.

Gokasho Store Returns as a Matsunoya Co-located Store After About 24 Days Closed

Matsuya Gokasho Store (5-2 Kamikawahara, Gokasho Yanase-cho, Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture) temporarily closed at 3:00 PM on July 1 and reopened at 6:00 PM on July 25. The closure lasted about 24 days, and the store name now carries a new “Matsunoya co-located” designation. It has effectively restarted as a store co-located with the tonkatsu chain Matsunoya.

This is not the first time Gokasho Store has closed temporarily — past announcements show it was also closed for about 9 days, from 6:00 PM on May 12 to 3:00 PM on May 21. The latest closure ran far longer than that, and appears to have been used for renovation work tied to adding the Matsunoya co-location.

Shiga Prefecture has only 13 Matsuya locations, a relatively small number nationwide, and 11 of them are co-located with Matsunoya. Only two — the Hikone Store and the Ibuki PA (up line) Store — operate as standalone Matsuya locations. With Gokasho Store’s reopening, the prefecture’s Matsuya lineup is now even more heavily weighted toward Matsunoya co-location. The other Matsuya in Higashiomi City, Yokaichi Store, is also co-located with Matsunoya, making this a rare area where both of the city’s Matsuya locations are co-located stores.

Separately, Matsuya Oyama Store (0078, Itabashi City, Tokyo), which closed temporarily on the same day as Gokasho Store, July 1, reopened earlier, on July 16, also as a Matsunoya co-located store. Even among stores that entered renovation around the same time, reopening dates ended up varying.

Nakamurabashi Store Reopens After Exactly 7 Days Closed

Matsuya Nakamurabashi Store (Nerima City, Tokyo) returned to normal operation after a temporary closure of exactly 7 days, from 3:00 PM on July 17 to 3:00 PM on July 24. This is a standalone-type store without a co-located brand such as Matsunoya, and no change is seen in the store name or operating format before and after the closure.

Nerima City, home to Nakamurabashi Store, has 17 Matsuya locations, making it tied with Setagaya City for second place in Tokyo for store concentration, behind only Shinjuku City (25 locations). While the city also has Matsunoya co-located stores and My Curry Shokudo co-located stores, Nakamurabashi Store continues to operate as a standalone location.
