Matsuya Oyama Branch Reopens Today as the Only Matsunoya Co-located Store in Itabashi Ward

Matsuya Oyama Branch (Store No. 0078) has reopened today, July 16, at 10:00 a.m. as a renovated store co-located with Matsunoya. The branch had suspended operations for renovation for about half a month, from 3:00 p.m. on July 1, and reopened on the schedule announced on the official website. Through this renovation, Matsunoya — known for Tonkatsu and Tonkatsu Bowl — has been added to what was previously a standalone Matsuya location.

From a Standalone Store to a Matsunoya Co-located Store

The store’s official listing has changed to “Matsuya Oyama Branch (Matsunoya Co-located),” and the “Temporarily Closed” notation that had been attached before the closure has been removed. Matsunoya has been added as a co-located brand, and the store operates 24 hours. It is located at 58-2 Oyama Higashicho, Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, in the shopping street area around Oyama Station on the Tobu Tojo Line.

The closure period lasted about 15 days, from 3:00 p.m. on July 1 until 10:00 a.m. today. As of June 19, when the closure notice was issued, there was no information yet about a Matsunoya co-location — the co-location plan was finalized only after the closure began. Matsuya, known for its Beef Bowl, now shares the store with Matsunoya, which serves freshly fried Loin Cutlet and Tonkatsu Bowl.

The Only Matsunoya Co-located Store Among Matsuya in Itabashi Ward

Itabashi Ward currently has 13 Matsuya locations, but the Oyama Branch is the only one co-located with Matsunoya. It is now the sole location in the ward where customers can use both Matsuya and Matsunoya in one place. There are 47 Matsunoya co-located stores in Tokyo and 469 nationwide, and the Oyama Branch has newly joined that network.

Matsunoya Co-location Renovations Continue Across the Country

Renovations to add Matsunoya have been continuing at Matsuya locations across the country recently, and the Oyama Branch’s reopening is part of that trend. On July 1, three stores — Oyama, Gokasho, and Shusenji — entered renovation on the same day, and the Oyama Branch reopened exactly as announced at the time, with a planned reopening date of July 16.

Similar renovations can be seen at stores across the country in just the recent period, including the Sone Branch (reopened July 15), which also reopened after adding Matsunoya, and the Tarumi Branch (reopened July 14), which underwent about 15 days of closure. The Oyama Branch’s 15-day closure period falls roughly in the middle of the range of closure lengths for these similar renovations (roughly 9 to 17 days).
