Matsuya's Official X Introduces 'Cold Kakemen,' the Second Sushimatsu × Sharin Collaboration
On the night of August 6, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) quoted a post from Sushimatsu’s official account to introduce “Cold Kakemen,” the second collaboration between sushi brand Sushimatsu and tsukemen specialist Sharin. Alongside the call to “be sure to try it together with sushi,” the post added, “and of course, finish it off with Matsuya’s Hiyajiru” — tying the announcement to Matsuya’s new product that had just launched nationwide on August 4.
“Cold Kakemen” with Clear Seafood Broth, Paired with Nigiri
According to the original Sushimatsu post, Cold Kakemen debuted the same day. It’s described as looking simple at first glance, but the clear broth concentrates the umami of seafood, with a taste so refreshing it makes you want to drink it all. The photo posted by Matsuya’s official X account shows thick noodles in a chilled broth topped with white green onion and ice, arranged alongside three pieces of tuna nigiri. Set on a Sushimatsu menu mat, the pairing suggests a way to enjoy cold noodles and sushi together during the hot summer.
Second Sharin-Supervised Collaboration, Four Weeks After the First Tsukemen
The collaboration between Sushimatsu and Sharin began with a Sharin-supervised tsukemen, which Matsuya’s official X account reported trying on July 9. This new Cold Kakemen marks the second installment, arriving exactly four weeks (28 days) later. Sharin is known for its rich seafood-and-pork-bone tsukemen broth and belongs to the same Matsuya Foods Group as Matsuya and Sushimatsu. Where the first collaboration leaned into a rich seafood-pork-bone flavor, the second takes a contrasting direction within the same seafood theme, offering a clear, chilled seafood broth instead.
“Finish It Off with Matsuya’s Hiyajiru” — A Path to the New Product
After introducing Sushimatsu’s Cold Kakemen, Matsuya’s official X account added the call to “finish it off with Matsuya’s Hiyajiru.” Hiyajiru is a new Matsuya product that was test-sold at select stores in May before launching nationwide at 10 a.m. on August 4. It’s offered in three formats: Hiyajiru Only for 390 yen, the Hiyajiru Vegetable Set, and as part of the Choice of Side. Noodles and sushi at Sushimatsu, then Hiyajiru at Matsuya — the post traces a path across the group’s brands centered on cold summer menu items.
Editor's Note
Noodles and sushi at Sushimatsu, then a Hiyajiru finish at Matsuya — a casual pitch for a cross-brand cold-food crawl within the group that's hard not to want to try.
