Bulk-buy beef bowl bento sets have disappeared one after another from the Matsuya menu. On July 14, 2026, 11 of the 13 bento sets offered in multiple sizes and flavors were delisted from the menu page on Matsuya’s official website, leaving only two: the Beef Bowl Bento 2-Piece Set (860 yen) and the 3-Piece Set (1,260 yen). The options for buying in bulk have been narrowed sharply down to two sizes of the plain Beef Bowl Bento.

The 11 Delisted Items and the 2 That Remain

The delisted items are the 4-piece and 5-piece Beef Bowl Bento sets, every size (2 to 5 pieces) of the Oni-oroshi Grated Radish Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce Beef Bowl Bento and the Spicy-Savory Green Onion & Egg Beef Bowl Bento with Extra Green Onion, and the Beef Bowl Trio Regular Serving Bento Set, which packs three flavors with one of each, for a total of 11 items. Oni-oroshi Grated Radish Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce Beef Bowl Bento Sets: All Sizes From 2 to 5 Pieces Gone

The Oni-oroshi Grated Radish Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce Beef Bowl Bento sets were delisted in all four sizes, from the 2-piece set (1,060 yen) to the 5-piece set (2,500 yen). The per-piece price fell by 10 yen for each additional piece, from 530 yen down to 500 yen, which worked out to roughly 5 to 11% cheaper per piece than the in-store Oni-oroshi Grated Radish Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce Beef Bowl (560 yen as a single item).

Spicy-Savory Green Onion & Egg Beef Bowl Bento Sets Vanish in Every Size, Too

Likewise, the Spicy-Savory Green Onion & Egg Beef Bowl Bento sets with Extra Green Onion disappeared in all four sizes, from the 2-piece set (1,260 yen) to the 5-piece set (3,000 yen). The 5-piece set at 3,000 yen was the most expensive of the sets that were removed, with the per-piece price running from 630 yen down to 600 yen. The Upper Tiers That Made “Buy More, Save More” True Are Gone

There is a notable reversal in the price structure behind this scale-back. Every one of the bulk-buy bento sets used volume discounting, with the per-piece price dropping in 10-yen steps as the quantity went up. For the Beef Bowl Bento, for example, the 2-piece set works out to 430 yen per piece, while the 5-piece set was 400 yen per piece, so the more you bought, the cheaper it got. Yet what was delisted were precisely those cheaper upper tiers, the 4-piece and 5-piece sets, along with every size of the other flavors. What remains is only the smallest configuration of the plain Beef Bowl Bento, the 2-piece set (430 yen per piece) and the 3-piece set (420 yen per piece), which have the highest per-piece prices. The options where bundling more meant saving more have all disappeared together, leaving only the small packs.
