Matsuya Kamisu Store and Another Location Reopen as Scheduled at 3 PM on October 22 After Temporary Closure

StoreUpdated

Matsuya Kamisu Store (1753) and Matsuya Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store (1844) reopened at 3 PM on October 22, 2026. Both stores had been temporarily closed since 3 PM on October 13, and as of October 22, the official website’s store list no longer shows the temporary closure notice that had been attached to their names, with both now listed under their regular store names. The reopening had been set for 3 PM on October 22 since the announcement on September 29, so the reopening happened exactly as scheduled.

Temporary Closures of Three Stores Announced Together on September 29

The temporary closures of both stores had been announced on the Matsuya official website’s store list on September 29, 2026. Their store names carried the notice “*Temporarily closed from 3 PM on October 13. Reopens at 3 PM on October 22,” indicating a closure period of about nine days along with the scheduled reopening date and time. With this update, that notice has been removed, and both Kamisu Store and Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store have returned to their regular listings. In both cases, the reopening follows a temporary suspension of operations tied to renovation, renewal, or similar work; the store codes remain unchanged, and these are not new store openings.

The same September 29 announcement also carried an identical notice, closing from 3 PM on October 13, for Matsuya Higashi-Totsuka Nishiguchi Store (0938). However, that store’s scheduled reopening is 3 PM on October 23, one day later than Kamisu Store and Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store. One store in Ibaraki Prefecture and two in Kanagawa Prefecture — geographically distant locations — all closed at the exact same time, 3 PM on October 13, though no common reason has been given officially. Kamisu Store and Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store reopen first, with Higashi-Totsuka Nishiguchi Store following the next day.

Kamisu Store: An Isolated Location Within Ibaraki Prefecture

Matsuya Kamisu Store is located at 2-22-1, Onohara, Kamisu-shi, Ibaraki, and is the only Matsuya location within Kamisu City. The nearest Matsuya store isn’t in Ibaraki Prefecture at all — it’s Matsuya Sawara Store in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, about 14km away in a straight line. The second-nearest is also in Chiba Prefecture, Matsuya Asahi Store in Asahi City (about 19km away), and there are no Matsuya locations in the surrounding Ibaraki cities of Kashima, Itako, or Hokota either. Ibaraki Prefecture has 21 Matsuya stores in total, placing it among the areas with relatively few stores nationwide. The reopened Kamisu Store is listed as operating 24 hours a day.

Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store: Located in a High-Density Area

Matsuya Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store, meanwhile, is located at 2-4-33, Kitakaname, Hiratsuka-shi, Kanagawa. Hiratsuka City already has Matsuya Hiratsuka Store (0161, Beniya-cho, Hiratsuka City), making Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store the second location within the same city. Matsuya also has locations in the surrounding cities of Hadano, Isehara, Chigasaki (2 stores), and Odawara (2 stores). Kanagawa Prefecture has 111 Matsuya stores, ranking third nationwide after Tokyo (337 stores) and Osaka Prefecture (113 stores), placing it in a high-density area — in contrast to Kamisu Store’s isolated location within its prefecture. Hiratsuka Kitakaname Store’s operating hours were changed to 24-hour operation on June 13, 2026, and after reopening, it continues to be listed with 24-hour operation and a late-night surcharge notice.

Editor's Note

Glad to see them back right on schedule. Higashi-Totsuka Nishiguchi Store, reopening a day later, isn't far behind.
