Matsuya Launches Pork & Kimchi Set Meal Starring Mt. Fuji Kimchi at 10 AM Today, 890 Yen

Matsuya launched its summer staple Pork & Kimchi Set Meal for a limited time at 10 AM on August 25. The Regular Serving is priced at 890 yen and pairs the chain’s in-house Mt. Fuji Kimchi with pork. Matsuya’s official website announced the item’s return in an August 20 notice, describing it as “back again this year,” with availability at Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores. Ahead of the launch, the official X account also previewed the item at 6 PM on August 21, meaning the release came several days after the initial announcement.

The Pork & Kimchi Set Meal comes in three sizes: Only, Regular Serving, and Double. The Regular Serving is a set-meal style with rice and salad included, while Only comes without rice or salad. The price and nutritional information for each size are as follows.

Price Position Within the Set Meal Category

At 890 yen, the Regular Serving falls in the same price bracket as the current Yakiniku Beef Set Meal and Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib Set Meal (both 890 yen) in the Set Meal category. One tier cheaper is the Stir-fried Pork with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal (850 yen), and one tier pricier is the Chicken Nanban Set Meal (980 yen), placing it alongside the yakiniku-style set meals.

Looking size by size, the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal’s Only (650 yen) and Double (1,340 yen) prices match those of the Stir-fried Pork with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal exactly, but the Regular Serving alone is set 40 yen higher, at 890 yen versus the Stir-fried Pork with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal’s 850 yen.

70-Yen-Off Coupon on the Official App

Alongside the launch, Matsuya’s official app began distributing a “70 yen off Pork & Kimchi Set Meal” coupon. The distribution period runs from 10 AM on August 25 to 10 AM on September 1. It is limited to the eligible menu item, with no advance entry or combination requirements. Applied to the 890-yen Regular Serving, the effective price comes to 820 yen, available at that price throughout the distribution period.

Matsuya’s Kimchi Menu and In-House “Mt. Fuji Kimchi”

The Mt. Fuji Kimchi used in the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal is manufactured in-house by Matsuya at its Mt. Fuji Factory, as the official X account revealed on August 9. Until now, kimchi has mainly appeared across the Beef Bowl lineup and side dishes — the Kimchi Beef Bowl (560 yen), Kimchi Beef Bowl Lunch Set (630 yen), and ONE PIECE Kimchi Beef Bowl Set (760 yen), the Mt. Fuji Kimchi side dish (100 yen), and the Kimchi & Raw Egg Set and Kimchi & Soft-boiled Egg Set toppings (170 yen each). The Pork & Kimchi Set Meal is the first item to put that same Mt. Fuji Kimchi front and center in a set meal.

The same Mt. Fuji Kimchi was also offered as a selectable side dish with the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal with Kimchi (880 yen), launched July 14, but that item was discontinued on August 11. Though different in name and content, the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal marks the return of a Mt. Fuji Kimchi set meal after roughly two weeks.
