Matsuya launched its summer staple, the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal (Pork & Kimchi Set Meal), as a limited-time item at 10 a.m. on August 25. The Regular Serving costs 890 yen and pairs pork with the company’s in-house “Fuji Mountain Kimchi.” Matsuya’s official website announced on August 20 that it was “back again this year,” and the item is available at Matsuya stores nationwide except some locations. The official X account had also teased the item at 6 p.m. on August 21, so the launch came a few days after the announcement.

Price Position Within the Set Meal Category

It is valid from 10 a.m. on August 25 to 10 a.m. on September 1, applies only to the specified menu item, and requires no advance entry and has no combination restrictions. Applied to the 890-yen Regular Serving, it brings the price down to an effective 820 yen during the distribution period.

Matsuya’s Kimchi Menu and the In-House “Fuji Mountain Kimchi”

The official X account revealed on August 9 that the Fuji Mountain Kimchi used in the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal is made in-house at Matsuya’s Mt. Fuji Factory. Until now, kimchi has been offered mainly through beef bowl items and small side dishes: the Bowl of Mixed Simmered Beef and Kimchi (560 yen), the Bowl of Mixed Simmered Beef and Kimchi Lunch Set (630 yen), the ONE PIECE Bowl of Mixed Simmered Beef and Kimchi Set (760 yen), Fuji Mountain Kimchi as a side (100 yen), and the Kimchi and Raw Egg / Kimchi and Soft-boiled Egg toppings (170 yen each). The Pork & Kimchi Set Meal puts that Fuji Mountain Kimchi front and center as the main of a set meal.

The same Fuji Mountain Kimchi was also available as a choice of side dish in the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal with Kimchi (880 yen), launched on July 14, which was discontinued on August 11. It is a different menu item in both name and content, but this marks the return of a set meal using Fuji Mountain Kimchi after about two weeks.
