Matsuya to Launch First 'Bakumori' Bowls for One Day Only on August 29 Yakiniku Day, as Part of Monthly Meat Day Campaign

Matsuya will hold its monthly “Matsuya Meat Day Campaign” on Saturday, August 29, 2026. For orders placed exclusively through the Matsuya Foods official apps Matsuben Net and Matsuya Mobile Order, the Large Serving versions of five set meals — Yakiniku Beef Set Meal, Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib Set Meal, Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal, Stir-fried Pork with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal, and Pork & Kimchi Set Meal — will each be discounted by a flat 200 yen off their regular price. Alongside this, two “Bakumori” (mega-large) bowls, featuring Extra-large Serving rice and double the Large Serving amount of meat, will debut for this one day only.

Five Large Serving Set Meals Discounted by 200 Yen

The target lineup is five set meals bumped up to the doubled-meat “Large Serving.” Prices after the discount, tax included, are as follows.

Each item is discounted by 200 yen, roughly a 15% reduction. After the discount, prices fall into three tiers: 1,180 yen (Yakiniku Beef and Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib), 1,140 yen (Stir-fried Pork with Ginger Soy Sauce and Pork & Kimchi), and 1,080 yen (Yakiniku Pork Loin).

The Large Serving Pork & Kimchi Set Meal included in the lineup is a limited-time item that only went on sale today, August 25, at 10 a.m. Just hours after its debut, it has already been folded into the Meat Day Campaign’s Large Serving discount. Stepping up from the Regular Serving price of 890 yen to the Large Serving price of 1,340 yen adds 450 yen, which is 40 yen less than the other four items (Yakiniku Beef, Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib, Yakiniku Pork Loin, and Stir-fried Pork with Ginger Soy Sauce all add 490 yen). The difference stems from the original price structure, but it makes the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal a relatively affordable way to size up to a Large Serving.

Two ‘Bakumori’ Jumbo Bowls, One Day Only

The highlight this time is the “Bakumori” size bowl, which pairs an Extra-large Serving of rice with twice the amount of meat found in a Large Serving. The Large Serving version of the Kimchi Kalbi Bowl is priced at 1,200 yen (tax included), and the Large Serving version of the Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl is 1,140 yen (tax included), with both available for this one day only, August 29.

The Kimchi Kalbi Bowl normally comes in Regular Serving (690 yen), Large Serving (910 yen), and Extra-large Serving (1,090 yen), but the Bakumori Large Serving at 1,200 yen sets a new ceiling, 110 yen above the previous top tier, Extra-large Serving. The Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl normally comes only in Regular Serving (630 yen) and Large Serving (850 yen), with no Extra-large Serving option, so the 1,140 yen Bakumori Large Serving becomes a new tier 290 yen above the Large Serving — one that didn’t previously exist. The announcement image shows the Kimchi Kalbi Bowl piled high with layered kimchi and boneless short rib, and the Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl topped with scallion and shredded nori, both served in portions far larger than their usual sizes.

Limited to Matsuben Net and Matsuya Mobile Order

Both the discount and the Bakumori bowls are available exclusively through orders placed on Matsuben Net or Matsuya Mobile Order within the Matsuya Foods official app. They cannot be purchased at in-store ticket vending machines or tablets, where regular prices still apply. The offer can be used for both dine-in and takeout, but Matsuben Delivery is not eligible. It is available at Matsuya locations nationwide, with the exception of the Haneda Innovation City Store, Narita Airport Terminal 3 Store, and stores located inside highway parking areas (PAs). Prices may differ at some locations.

Monthly ‘Meat Day’ Campaign Keeps the 200 Yen Discount Unchanged

The Meat Day Campaign is a monthly promotion held around the 29th of each month; it was most recently run on July 29, covering six Large Serving set meals. The lineup of eligible items rotates monthly — the Large Serving Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal, which was included in July, has been dropped this time, replaced by the Large Serving Pork & Kimchi Set Meal that launched today.

Even as regular prices for eligible items have been revised over time, the 200 yen discount on Large Servings has remained unchanged. The size-boosting gimmick itself, however, varies from month to month — in June, Matsuya offered a Triple size, larger than the standard options, for the Hamburg Steak Set Meal for one day only. That said, this is the first time the term “Bakumori” has been used in the Meat Day Campaign. Past Meat Day announcements have never used the term “Bakumori,” making this an especially large scale-up even among the monthly campaigns.
