Matsuya Offers 30 Packs of Grilled Silver Salmon at 216 Yen Each for Amazon Prime Big Deal Days
At 7:00 PM on October 17, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted introducing frozen Grilled Silver Salmon. The post announced that the item is included in the ongoing Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale, with a set of 30 packs selling for 6,480 yen, or 216 yen per serving. The post reads, “Actually, this is already grilled” and “No fish grill needed! Just heat it in the microwave,” highlighting that it’s a pre-cooked product ready to eat after simply microwaving. The sale is stated to run through October 19.
A Different Product Featured Each Day in a Series of Sale Posts
This latest post is the fourth in a series of official X posts announcing the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale that began on October 15. On the morning of the 15th, when the early sale started, the Popular 4-Variety 32-Serving Set was featured at 6,599 yen (about 206 yen per serving); on the morning of the 16th, when the main sale opened, the Beef Bowl Topping 30-Serving Set was featured; and now, on the night of the 17th, it’s 30 packs of Grilled Silver Salmon. Each post in the series spotlights a different product.
This is the second joint Matsuya-Amazon sale this year, following the Amazon Prime Day held from July 6 to 13, with roughly a three-month interval between the two.
The “216 Yen Per Serving” Pitch Has Continued Since July
The “216 yen per serving” price pitch had already been used in the early Amazon Prime Day sale on July 7. The item back then was the Beef Bowl Topping 30-Serving Set, which was likewise announced at “about 216 yen per serving.” Although the product is different, the same 216-yen-per-serving figure was carried over unchanged across three months. This approach of emphasizing the per-serving price has also been used repeatedly in the current sale, starting with the “about 206 yen per serving” figure on the 15th.
Grilled Silver Salmon itself has no corresponding listing in Matsuya’s official site announcements or menu, and is introduced here with copy written specifically for Amazon. It joins a lineup of home-use frozen products that includes Beef Bowl Topping, Original Curry and Rice, Beef Bowl Burger, and Loin Cutlet.
Serving Ideas: Ochazuke and Takikomi Gohan
The images attached to the post show two ways to use Grilled Silver Salmon.
The first is Silver Salmon Ochazuke. A bowl of white rice is topped with flaked and seared fillet pieces, garnished with shredded nori, rice crackers (arare), and mitsuba, and finished with steaming dashi broth poured over the top.
The second is Silver Salmon Takikomi Gohan. Rice cooked in a clay pot is topped with a whole fillet of Grilled Silver Salmon, scattered with mushrooms such as maitake and shimeji, maple-leaf-shaped carrot cutouts, and chopped green onion. Maple leaves are arranged beside the pot, matching the “autumn table” phrase used at the start of the post.
Both arrangements are built around simply reheating the pre-cooked Grilled Silver Salmon, highlighting that it lets you add a fish side dish to the table without using a grill.
Editor's Note
Silver salmon that requires zero effort to grill can become Ochazuke or Takikomi Gohan. It looks set to be a strong ally for autumn dinners.
