Matsuya Switches Five Mie and Aichi Stores, Including Yokkaichi Hinaga, to 24-Hour Operation All at Once

Matsuya’s store information shows that five stores in Mie and Aichi have dropped their day-specific shortened hours and switched to 24-hour operation all at once. The five are Yokkaichi Hinaga Store (0323), Tsunan Store (1810), Suzuka Chuo-dori Store (1836), Kanie Store (1705), and Kasadera Store (1847), all of which previously had opening and closing times set mainly around weekdays. The same day also brought a change to the listed hours at Ome Imadera Store (2306) in Tokyo, but that update is a different kind of change and is covered separately below.

Old and New Hours at the Five Stores

All five stores moved from a pattern of “not open late at night or early morning on certain days” to round-the-clock operation every day of the week. The hours before and after the change are as follows.

Of these, Yokkaichi Hinaga Store had only just extended its Saturday–Sunday hours from 9am–10pm to 24 hours as of June, while restrictions such as closing at 3am and opening at 5am remained on weekdays. This time the remaining weekdays were brought into round-the-clock operation as well, completing a gradual shift to 24-hour service across every day of the week.

In Mie Prefecture, 5 of 7 Stores Now Operate Around the Clock

Plotting the five newly round-the-clock stores on a map, they run from Tsunan Store in Tsu City through Suzuka Chuo-dori Store in Suzuka City, Yokkaichi Hinaga Store in Yokkaichi City, and Kanie Store in Kanie Town, to Kasadera Store in Minami Ward, Nagoya City — all falling within roughly a 50km stretch running mostly north-south along the Ise Bay coast. In other words, the same switch happened all at once across the adjoining Mie-to-Aichi area straddling the prefectural border.

Within Mie Prefecture, the change is even clearer. With three of the prefecture’s seven Matsuya stores — Yokkaichi Hinaga, Tsunan, and Suzuka Chuo-dori — moving to 24-hour operation together this time, the number of round-the-clock stores has grown to five, joining the already 24-hour Yokkaichi Horiki Store and Mie Kawagoecho Store. Only two stores are not open 24 hours: Kuwana Store (8am to midnight) and Matsusaka Daikokuda Store (4am to 2am the next day).

A Wave of 24-Hour Conversions Continuing Since April

The shift from day-specific shortened hours to 24-hour operation isn’t limited to these five stores. Since April this year, the same kind of switch has been happening one after another nationwide, with the total now exceeding 50 stores. By prefecture, Tokyo has the most, followed by Kanagawa, Osaka, and Chiba. What stands out about this batch of five stores in Mie and Aichi is that a cluster of neighboring stores moved together within this broader trend.

Just recently, Iwade Store and Kainan Store switched to 24-hour operation in late July, and on August 3rd, expanded hours at six stores including Kitami Tokiwa Store were reflected in the listings all at once — the move back to round-the-clock service continues in various areas. Bit by bit, the number of Matsuya stores open late into the night is returning to what it once was.

At Ome Imadera Store, Matsunoya’s Hours Are Now Listed Separately

Ome Imadera Store, updated the same day, is a different kind of case from the other five. It was already open 24 hours, and the store’s own operating hours haven’t changed. What changed is the listing itself: “24-hour operation” now reads “24-hour operation *Matsunoya is open from 9am to 1am the next day,” adding the hours of the co-located tonkatsu restaurant Matsunoya for the first time.

In other words, while the Matsuya beef bowl side is open around the clock, the Matsunoya side of the same location now has its hours listed separately, running from 9am to 1am the next day. There have also been opposite cases in the past where a Matsunoya hours note was removed from the operating-hours field, so how this is written varies from store to store. This time, Ome Imadera Store is on the side where the note was added.
