The store name listing for Matsuya Okinawa Hiyane Store (2311) on Matsuya’s official website has changed back from “Opening September 18 at 10 AM” to “Opening early October” regarding its planned opening. The specific opening date and time information has also disappeared, returning to an undetermined status. This is the third time the store’s opening date listing has switched since September 8.

Two things changed this time: the opening notice appended to the store name in the store list, and the planned opening date and time data. The store name listing was rewritten from “Matsuya Okinawa Hiyane Store (Matsunoya co-located) *Opening September 18 at 10 AM” to “Matsuya Okinawa Hiyane Store (Matsunoya co-located) *Opening early October.” At the same time, the planned opening date and time, previously set to September 18, 2026 at 10 AM, has been removed and is now undetermined.

As of September 10, the name listing reads only “Opening early October,” with no specific opening date given.

Opening Date Switched Three Times in Two Days

Matsuya Okinawa Hiyane Store first appeared in the official store list on August 27, initially listed as “Opening September 18 at 10 AM.” In the past several days, however, this opening notice has gone back and forth between “September 18” and “early October.”

In the roughly two weeks since the August 27 listing began, the opening notice has been updated three times: “September 18 at 10 AM” → “early October” → “September 18 at 10 AM” → “early October.” The wait for opening continues, swinging back and forth between the specific date of September 18 and the undetermined “early October” listing.

Second Matsuya in Okinawa City, 11th in the Prefecture

Matsuya Okinawa Hiyane Store is located at 5-2-2 Hiyane, Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture. Once open, it will be the second Matsuya in Okinawa City. The existing Matsuya Okinawa Chibana Store (2520) is also in the city, located about 6 km north of the Hiyane store (an estimate based on latitude and longitude).

Including this new store, there will be 11 Matsuya locations in Okinawa Prefecture. Ten of them are co-located with Matsunoya, and the only one that isn’t is Naha Shintoshin Store (2194, co-located with My Curry Shokudo). The Matsunoya co-location rate reaches about 91%, a strikingly high figure compared to the nationwide rate, where only 482 of the 1,214 existing stores (about 40%) are co-located with Matsunoya. The planned Okinawa Hiyane Store is also co-located with Matsunoya, continuing this trend.

While the opening date remains unsettled, the store’s position as the second in Okinawa City and 11th in the prefecture — and the pattern of Matsunoya co-location being the norm for Matsuya in Okinawa — remains unchanged. The focus now is on when the opening date will finally settle.
