Matsuya's Official X Posts "Face-to-Face" Between Ito En's "Oi Ocha-kun" and Macky
On the evening of September 14, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) quoted a post from “Oi Ocha-kun,” the official character of beverage maker Ito En, adding the comment, “Oi Ocha-kun and Macky have met face to face (╹◡╹).” Macky is Matsuya’s official mascot, making this an exchange between characters from two different companies on their official accounts.
A reply to Oi Ocha-kun’s “let’s have a match”
Earlier that day, the official Oi Ocha-kun account had posted about visiting Matsuya. Attaching a photo of a beef bowl, it reported, “Hey there, I stopped by Matsuya 🐮 Let’s have a match, okay 🍵.” Matsuya’s official comment was posted in response to this visit report.
Quoting another account’s post to reply is not a common format among Matsuya’s official X posts. Past quotes have mostly centered on the company’s own group — Matsuya PREMIUM, Sushimatsu, Matsunoya — or official accounts of payment brands, with almost no instances of engaging with official characters from outside food and beverage brands.
No product collaboration announced
As of September 14, no collaboration between the Oi Ocha brand and Matsuya on products or campaigns (such as a joint menu item or a shared project) has been announced. Neither Matsuya’s official website news nor its app notifications mention anything about this. The exchange so far remains a moment of the two companies’ official characters greeting each other.
Incidentally, “face to face” is not a phrase Matsuya’s official X account is using for the first time. Back on June 3, the account used the same expression, “face to face,” when reporting an exchange through a quote of another account’s post. The emoticon at the end, “(╹◡╹),” is also a familiar staple widely used in Matsuya’s official X posts.
Macky, Yakky, and past appearances by other companies’ characters
Macky, who appears in the comment, serves as one of Matsuya’s official mascots alongside its partner Yakky. Past posts from Matsuya’s official X have noted that Macky and Yakky will “turn 10” in 2026, marking a decade milestone for the pair.
This is not the only instance of another company’s character appearing on Matsuya’s official X. On April 3, the account also posted introducing “Sumomo no Uchi,” a character from Kobito Zukan. However, while the Kobito Zukan post was a tie-up campaign linked to a menu item, this time it is a one-line comment reporting a meeting between characters, a different kind of feature.
Editor's Note
Ito En's "Oi Ocha-kun" called for a "match" over a beef bowl, and Macky showed up in response — what a peaceful face-to-face.
