On September 25, Matsuya published a notice on its official website about the October edition of its discount subscription pass, MATSUYA PASS. Starting this time, an “App Version” purchased inside the Matsuya App joins the existing “Card Version,” so the pass now runs in two formats. When it was first teased on the official X account the day before, on September 24, the App Version’s price and how to buy it were left as “details to follow.” This notice now gives the price, the purchase start date and time, and the usage period.

The App Version and Card Version differ in when you buy and how long they last

The two formats differ both in where you buy them and in how the validity period is counted. The Card Version has been on sale at store ticket vending machines since 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, and will end sales once stock runs out. Its validity is fixed to the calendar month: 0:00 on Thursday, October 1 through 23:59 on Saturday, October 31.

The newly introduced App Version can be purchased inside the Matsuya App from 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, and is valid for 30 days from the day you start using it. There is no need to queue at a ticket vending machine, and on Matsuben Net and Mobile Order the discount is applied automatically at checkout. The difference from the calendar-fixed Card Version is that you can start using it on any day you like, without waiting for the start of the month.

The price is 200 yen (tax included) for both the App Version and the Card Version. That is unchanged from the previous two editions (the March and July 2026 editions).

100 yen off Set Meals, 70 yen off Beef Bowls and the like: the cheaper the staple, the higher the discount rate

The discount comes in two tiers, depending on the menu category. Beef Bowls, Curry and Rice, and Bowls get 70 yen off, and Set Meals get 100 yen off. The 100 yen off Set Meals is the larger amount, but measured as an effective rate against the regular price, the Beef Bowl (460 yen), the cheapest item, comes out highest at 15.2%, and the rate falls as the price rises. Because it is a flat-amount discount, the cheaper the staple, the more it benefits.

The main eligible items for the 70-yen-off group (Beef Bowls, Curry and Rice, and Bowls) are as follows.

Morning Meals and some other menu items are excluded. Items sold may vary by store, and some items may be excluded. The discount rates shown are those when this pass is used on its own, and the pass cannot be combined with other discount coupons, service vouchers, shareholder benefit vouchers, meal service vouchers, and the like. It can be used as many times as you like during the validity period.

The 200 yen price equals one side dish

The 200 yen purchase price of the pass is equivalent to one side dish in the lowest price range of Matsuya’s menu. Small Serving Simmered Beef & Onion cooked with Sweet Soy sauce, served in Small Dish, Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg, Rice, and Extra Cheese are all priced at 200 yen. With Beef Bowls, the pass pays for itself after about three uses at 70 yen off, and if you order a few Set Meals during the period, the savings grow considerably.

The third MATSUYA PASS: eligible items return to Matsuya alone

MATSUYA PASS follows the March and July 2026 editions, and this October edition is its third run. The price of 200 yen and the discount amounts (70 yen off for Beef Bowls and the like, 100 yen off for Set Meals) have stayed the same across all three.

What has changed is the range of brands where it can be used. The March edition applied to “Matsuya” alone, whereas the July edition expanded to Matsunoya, My Curry Shokudo, Shoken Chinese Dining, Matsutaro, Steak-ya Matsu, and Steak Set Meal Matsugyu. This October edition once again covers Matsuya menu items, and at stores co-located with Matsunoya, only the eligible Matsuya menu items are discounted.

The format has also changed. The previous two editions offered a single physical card bought in store, but with the App Version added, the pass now has two formats. The increasingly routine discount subscription pass has been updated in how it works while its price stays put.
