The menu page on Matsuya’s official website also lists it from the same day in three sizes: Only at 680 yen, Set Meal at 880 yen and Double at 1,370 yen. This year’s announcement describes it as “Matsuya’s ‘autumn tradition,’ loved for 18 years,” making it a staple dish that appears each early autumn.

The Set Meal price of 880 yen given in the advance notice carried over unchanged to the actual listing. The menu page also now shows the per-size prices and nutrition figures that the announcement alone did not reveal.

The Set Meal comes with rice and a salad, while the Only option is the main dish alone. The Only size is 502 kcal, which rises to 906 kcal once rice is added in the Set Meal. The Double, with twice the main dish, reaches 1,409 kcal and 9.9 g of salt equivalent, making it a seriously hearty plate.

Non-Set-Meal Line Announced in the News Release

The September 3 announcement also listed, in addition to the Set Meal (880 yen) and its Double (1,370 yen), a version without rice or salad, “Stir-fried Pork and Eggplant with Spicy Miso” (780 yen), and its Double (1,270 yen), as launch items. As of September 8, the menu page lists the three price points of the Set Meal line.

An Autumn Staple, Sold Last Year Under the Name ‘Thick Pork Boneless Short Rib’

Looking back through past announcements, “Stir-fried Pork and Eggplant with Spicy Miso” is a dish whose early-autumn launch notices have appeared repeatedly. Last year, in 2025, it was sold as “Stir-fried Thick Pork Boneless Short Rib and Eggplant with Spicy Miso.” This year it returns under its original name, “Stir-fried Pork and Eggplant with Spicy Miso Set Meal.”

The Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal (Kimchi / Soft-boiled Egg), sold in July, had the same price structure as this dish: Only at 680 yen, Set Meal at 880 yen and Double at 1,370 yen. The Pork & Kimchi Set Meal, released on August 25, is still on sale. Comparing the nutrition of the Set Meal (regular) sizes, this dish falls in the middle of these.
