At 9:00 AM on May 30, 2026, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted a feature on ‘Sumomo no Uchi,’ the second character to be spotlighted from the six-design lineup of the second Kobito Zukan collaboration ‘Kids’ Pouch,’ which began distribution at 10:00 AM on May 12. This character was previously introduced once during the first-round towel giveaway on April 3, 2026, marking its second appearance on the official X account across the first and second rounds.

Original Post

Spotted: 【Sumomo no Uchi】, which grows by eating plums! Its moderately springy body might just be part of the appeal!? Order from Matsuya’s Kids’ Menu and get an original Kobito Zukan pouch as a gift🎁 *The design you receive is random, chosen from 6 patterns

The post is structured in four parts: character ecology (diet), physical traits, campaign promotion, and a note on random distribution. After describing its diet of eating plums, the copy moves into the character’s physical trait of a ‘moderately springy body,’ leaning the composition toward the character’s appeal.

Sumomo no Uchi in the Image

The attached image shows a green-toned pouch in a drawstring-bag style with a zipper at the top. The background features a photo of multiple plums growing on a branch, with the Sumomo no Uchi character on the left and a green label on the right listing the character’s name (in katakana) and basic information.

The character has a green-toned body with a leaf-like shape on top of its head and round pink cheeks. It has a slightly open-mouthed expression, a rounded torso, and short, stubby limbs on a stocky build. The plums in the background feature a gradient from pale yellow-green to light pink, creating a contrast between the green character and the pale-colored fruit. Compared to the previously featured (May 16) ‘Kakuremomojiri’ pouch, which was pink-toned with a body length of 15cm, this one is green-toned with a body length of 4–5cm — a contrast in both color and size.

A Different Angle from the First-Round Towel Copy

Sumomo no Uchi was already introduced once on April 3, during the first-round towel giveaway. The same character has now been featured again for the second-round pouch after the giveaway item switched, but the post copy has been rewritten from a different angle.

Post Date Giveaway Item Copy Focus
April 3, 2026 (Fri), 10:00 AM 1st-round Towel Clinging to plums and burrowing in while eating the fruit (behavior description)
May 30, 2026 (Sat), 9:00 AM 2nd-round Pouch Grows by eating plums (diet) + moderately springy body (physical trait)

The focus shifted from behavior description to diet plus physical traits. This is the first time in the last six Kobito introduction posts (April 3 to May 16) that an appeal centered on body traits, such as ‘body springiness,’ has appeared, suggesting that a new approach of revisiting the same character from a different angle has begun.

The Shift to a Biweekly Schedule for Kobito Introduction Posts

The Kobito introduction posts, which ran weekly during the first-round towel giveaway, shifted to a biweekly pace after the switch to the second-round pouch.

Post Date Day/Time Kobito Featured Giveaway Item
Apr 3 Fri 10:00 AM Sumomo no Uchi 1st-round Towel
Apr 10 Fri 10:00 AM Ichigo Kurenai 1st-round Towel
Apr 18 Sat 9:00 AM Amakurisotsu 1st-round Towel
Apr 25 Sat 9:00 AM Takenokobito 1st-round Towel
May 2 Sat 9:00 AM Benikinokobito 1st-round Towel
May 9 Sat 9:00 AM (1st-round ending reminder / no character feature)

May 23 Sat 9:00 AM (No corresponding post)
May 30 (this post) Sat 9:00 AM Sumomo no Uchi (2nd time) 2nd-round Pouch

During the first round, all five characters were introduced consecutively at a weekly pace; since entering the second round, the series has continued at a biweekly pace. The second round is set to end at 9:59 AM on June 30, 2026 (Tue), leaving about four weeks remaining. If the biweekly pace is maintained, that works out to one or two more Kobito introduction posts during the remaining distribution period.

Editor's Note

Whoever's running the account decided to sell us on its 'moderately springy body.' For kids who haven't read the original, that might be brand-new information.
