On the night of July 16, Matsuya’s official X account posted about the day being “Rainbow Day.” The post read, “Matsuya is currently selling 7 varieties of Beef Bowl — the same number as the colors of the rainbow!” alongside a visual showing 7 colorful bowls of Beef Bowl arranged along a rainbow’s arc. It invited followers with, “After a hard day at work or school, why not stop by Matsuya for a moment of relief?” and closed with, “We’d be happy if this adds a little color to your day today too.” In the upper right of the image, Matsuya’s official mascots Macky and Yakky peek out side by side from a bowl beneath the rainbow.

Playful as the wordplay is, this “7 varieties” isn’t an exaggeration — it matches exactly the number of items currently in Matsuya’s Beef Bowl category.

The 7 Beef Bowl Varieties That Match the Rainbow’s 7 Colors

All 7 bowls shown in the post’s image are Beef Bowl varieties currently on sale. Centered on the classic Beef Bowl, the lineup arcs through Kimchi Beef Bowl topped with red kimchi and shredded nori, Oni-oroshi Grated Radish Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce Beef Bowl with grated radish and scallion, Extra Green Onion Spicy-Savory Green Onion & Egg Beef Bowl layered with scallion and a soft-cooked egg, Cheese Beef Bowl with melting cheese, Umatoma (tomato-based sauce) Cheese Beef Bowl with tomato sauce and cheese, and the “limited-time” Yatara Beef Bowl topped with chopped vegetables.

Being able to line up 7 varieties for “Rainbow Day” can also be read as the timely result of recent menu expansion.
