Matsuya Tsuruhashi and Fujiidera Ekimae Stores in Osaka Switch to 24-Hour Operation
Store information on the official Matsuya website shows that two stores in Osaka Prefecture have switched their operating hours to 24 hours a day. The stores are Matsuya Tsuruhashi (0375) in Tennoji Ward, Osaka City, and Matsuya Fujiidera Ekimae (2031) in Fujiidera City. Both stores, which had previously operated during limited hours, have now joined the group of round-the-clock locations.
Hours Before and After the Change
The Tsuruhashi store had been operating from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the next day (last order 30 minutes before closing), while the Fujiidera Ekimae store ran from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. the next day (last order 30 minutes before closing). Both stores now list their hours as “24-hour operation.”
| Store | Hours Before the Change | After the Change |
|---|---|---|
| Matsuya Tsuruhashi | 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the next day (last order 30 min before closing) | 24-hour operation |
| Matsuya Fujiidera Ekimae | 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. the next day (last order 30 min before closing) | 24-hour operation |
The Tsuruhashi store had long been known for strong early-morning business thanks to its 5:00 a.m. opening, but the gap between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. has now disappeared, giving it a seamless setup that can serve customers who missed their last train home as well as those stopping in before an early shift. The Fujiidera Ekimae store had a relatively late 8:00 a.m. opening, so the early-morning hours are now newly covered as well.
The Tennoji Ward and Fujiidera City Locations
Tennoji Ward, where the Tsuruhashi store is located, has only one other Matsuya — the Tanimachi-kyuchome store (0548) — meaning these are the only two Matsuya locations in the ward. The Tanimachi-kyuchome store already operates 24 hours a day, so with this change, both Matsuya stores in Tennoji Ward now offer round-the-clock service.
The Fujiidera Ekimae store, meanwhile, is the only Matsuya in Fujiidera City. There are no Matsuya locations in the neighboring cities of Matsubara, Habikino, or Kashiwara, and the nearest cluster of Matsuya stores is in Yao City (five locations: Gaikan Yao, Yao Honmachi, Kawachi-Yamamoto, Yao Minami Taishido, and Kintetsu Yao Ekimae). This one valuable store covering the Fujiidera area along the Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line is now open around the clock.
Note that the Fujiidera Ekimae store shares its location with a Matsunoya outlet, as does the Tanimachi-kyuchome store in Tennoji Ward. The Tsuruhashi store, by contrast, operates as a standalone Matsuya.
24-Hour Operation Is the Majority in Osaka Prefecture
Osaka Prefecture, home to both stores, currently has 111 Matsuya locations, of which 74 (about 67%) already operate 24 hours a day. Round-the-clock operation is the majority within the prefecture, and these two stores have effectively moved from the minority group of limited-hour stores into the majority group.
Across the Matsuya chain as a whole, a substantial number of stores operate 24 hours, and stores that continue to run on limited hours are increasingly becoming the minority. The changes at the Tsuruhashi and Fujiidera Ekimae stores fit within this broader trend. In just the past week alone, the Rokujizo store in Kyoto also switched from 8:00 a.m.–1:00 a.m. hours to 24-hour operation, part of a wave of similar transitions to round-the-clock service happening across the country.
Fujiidera Ekimae Was Previously on the Late-Night Suspension List
The Fujiidera Ekimae store had previously appeared in an article published on July 17 covering the late-night operation suspension schedule for 73 stores across the Tokai, Kinki, and Hokuriku regions, where it was named as one of the stores suspending late-night service. The store, once among those cutting back on late-night hours, has now moved to the opposite end of the spectrum, operating around the clock including those late-night hours.
The operating hours of both stores can be confirmed via the store locator on the official Matsuya website following this change. There are now two more options for finding a Matsuya open late at night or in the early morning in the eastern Osaka City and southern Kawachi areas.
Editor's Note
Knowing that the only Matsuya in Fujiidera is now open around the clock should be a real relief for local night-owl diners.
