Matsuya Tonda and Shijo Karasuma Stores Extend Hours to 22 Hours, Now Open 4 AM to 2 AM
On July 16, operating hours were updated in succession at several Matsuya locations. At the Tonda store (0911) in Osaka Prefecture and the Shijo Karasuma store (1925) in Kyoto Prefecture, the base operating hours themselves were expanded to 4 AM–2 AM, with both stores moving from 17 hours of operation to 22 hours. On the same day, five stores in Wakayama, Shiga, Gifu, and Toyama Prefectures had their temporary overnight closure schedules replaced with mid-July dates.
Tonda and Shijo Karasuma Stores Move to 22-Hour Operation, 4 AM to 2 AM
Matsuya’s Tonda store changed its hours from 8 AM to 1 AM (last order 30 minutes before close) to 4 AM to 2 AM (last order 30 minutes before close). Opening time moved up four hours from 8 AM to 4 AM, while closing time was pushed back one hour from 1 AM to 2 AM, expanding total operating hours by five hours, from 17 to 22.
The store is located in Tondamachi, Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture. In early May, its opening time on weekends and holidays had just been pushed back from 6 AM to 8 AM, unifying all days of the week to an 8 AM–1 AM schedule. This latest change extends hours further in both directions — earlier in the morning and later at night — from that unified schedule, marking a substantial move beyond the May benchmark.
Matsuya’s Shijo Karasuma store in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, also changed its hours, from 6:30 AM to 11:30 PM (last order 30 minutes before close) to 4 AM to 2 AM (last order 30 minutes before close). This too expanded operating hours by five hours, from 17 to 22, aligning it with the exact same 4 AM–2 AM window as the Tonda store. The result is two stores in different prefectures now unified under the same operating hours. Alongside this, the Shijo Karasuma store’s temporary overnight closure notice was also updated, from “July 4 and July 15: 10 PM to 6:30 AM” to “July 17 to July 19: 11 PM to 6 AM.”
Five Stores Have Temporary Overnight Closure Schedules Updated to Mid-July
At the remaining five stores, the base operating hours are unchanged; only the schedule for temporary overnight closures, mostly during late-night hours, was replaced with new dates around July 16, moving on from the previous dates. Details for each store are as follows.
| Store | Base Operating Hours (Unchanged) | Temporary Overnight Closure (Before → After) |
|---|---|---|
| Matsuya Kinokawa Ohashi store (0327) | Mon–Thu: 24 hours; Fri: until 1 AM; Sat: 6:30 AM–1 AM; Sun: from 6:30 AM (last order 30 minutes before close) | Multiple dates in June → July 16–19: 11 PM to 8:30 AM |
| Matsuya Hikone store (0709) | 6 AM–12 AM (last order 30 minutes before close) | Multiple dates July 3–15 → July 16: 10 PM to 6 AM |
| Matsuya Gifu Noritake store (1799) | 24-hour operation (last order 30 minutes before close) | Multiple dates in June → July 16: 10 PM to 8 AM |
| Matsuya Wakayama Kano store (1984) | 5 AM to 3 AM (last order 30 minutes before close) | Multiple dates July 3–14 → July 16: 10 PM to 9 AM |
| Matsuya Imizu Taikoyama store (2245) | 24-hour operation (last order 30 minutes before close) | Multiple dates July 7–15 → July 16: 10 PM to 8 AM |
In none of these cases does the store close entirely — only the overnight hours on the specified dates are suspended. The updated closure dates are concentrated around July 16, with all five stores having their notices consolidated to reflect the imminent schedule ahead.
Changes Span Six Prefectures, Three Stores Co-located with “Matsunoya”
The seven stores with updated operating hours this time are spread across six prefectures nationwide: two in Wakayama Prefecture (Kinokawa Ohashi and Wakayama Kano), and one each in Shiga, Osaka, Gifu, Kyoto, and Toyama Prefectures. Matsuya currently operates six stores in Wakayama Prefecture, two of which were included in this update at the same time.
In addition, three of the stores — Gifu Noritake, Wakayama Kano, and Imizu Taikoyama — are co-located with “Matsunoya,” Matsuya’s Tonkatsu chain. Only the Tonda and Shijo Karasuma stores went as far as extending their operating hours; the rest amount to routine operational updates, replacing closure dates while keeping their existing hours unchanged.
Editor's Note
With doors open from 4 AM to 2 AM, these two stores look ready to handle everything from a morning set meal while waiting for the first train to a late-night bite after the last one.
