Matsuya's 11th Store in Okinawa, "Okinawa Hiyane Store," Opens Today

On October 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Matsuya opened “Matsuya Okinawa Hiyane Store (2311)” in Hiyane, Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture. The store is co-located with Matsunoya, and is located at 5-2-2 Hiyane, Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture. With this opening, the number of operating Matsuya locations in Okinawa Prefecture has reached 11. The store’s opening date shifted back and forth several times, and it ultimately opened roughly two weeks later than originally announced.

Opening Date Shifted Back and Forth for About Two Weeks

On the official website’s store list, Okinawa Hiyane Store was initially announced as “Opening September 18 at 10:00 a.m.” The listing was then changed to “Opening early October,” reverted once to “September 18 at 10:00 a.m.,” and then shifted back again to “early October.” On September 15, it was finalized as “Opening October 2 at 10:00 a.m.,” and today that advance notice was removed as the store officially began operating.

Most new Matsuya locations have their opening date announced just once and open as scheduled, which makes this new store’s repeatedly revised opening date notably unusual.

11th Store in Okinawa Prefecture, 2nd in Okinawa City

With the opening of Okinawa Hiyane Store, the number of operating Matsuya locations in Okinawa Prefecture has reached 11. Okinawa City is also home to Matsuya Okinawa Chibana Store (2520), which is co-located with Matsunoya, making this the second Matsuya location in Okinawa City. The two stores are roughly 6 km apart in a straight line, about a 10-minute drive. This is the newest Matsuya to open in the prefecture, with Matsuya Ginowan Store (2302) having been the most recent addition prior to this.

Every Matsuya in Okinawa Is Co-located with Matsunoya or My Curry Shokudo

All 11 Matsuya locations in Okinawa Prefecture, including Okinawa Hiyane Store, are co-located with either Matsunoya or My Curry Shokudo. Of the 11 stores, 10 are co-located with Matsunoya, and only one is co-located with My Curry Shokudo. There are no standalone Matsuya stores in Okinawa Prefecture that lack a co-located Matsunoya or My Curry Shokudo. While standalone Matsuya stores without such co-location are common nationwide, Okinawa Prefecture stands out as a region where every single store is a co-located format.

Matsuya has recently been opening a series of new stores co-located with Matsunoya. On October 1, the day before this opening, two new Matsunoya co-located stores opened simultaneously in Matsusaka and Shimonoseki.
