Matsuya Opens Two New Stores with Matsunoya Co-location in Matsusaka and Shimonoseki Today at 10 AM
Matsuya opened two new stores today, October 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM: Matsuya Matsusaka Kamatacho Store (2299) in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, and Matsuya Shimonoseki Chofu Store (2329) in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Both stores are co-located with the fried food specialty chain Matsunoya, and as of September 3 the official store information had already listed them in advance with the note “Opening October 1 at 10:00.” Today that advance notice wording has been removed from the store names, along with the scheduled opening date and time, confirming that both stores opened exactly as announced.
The September 3 announcement had grouped together three stores as “co-located with Matsunoya, opening successively from September 17”: Matsusaka Kamatacho Store in Mie Prefecture, Shimonoseki Chofu Store in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Matsuya Kagoshima Tenmonkan Store (2614) in Kagoshima Prefecture. The earliest of the three, Kagoshima Tenmonkan Store, has already opened, and with the Matsusaka and Shimonoseki stores both opening today, all three stores in this set have now opened.
Second Store in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture: “Matsusaka Kamatacho Store”
Matsusaka Kamatacho Store is located at 247-1 Kamatacho, Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture. It becomes Matsuya’s second store in Matsusaka City, following the existing Matsuya Matsusaka Daikokuda Store (1978; 719-4 Daikokudamachi, Matsusaka City). The first store, Matsusaka Daikokuda Store, remains in operation, and the two stores are roughly 2.2km apart in a straight line.
With this opening, Matsuya now has 8 stores in Mie Prefecture, of which 5 are co-located with Matsunoya. Matsusaka Kamatacho Store’s co-location with Matsunoya is in line with the prefecture’s overall composition.
Second Store in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture: “Shimonoseki Chofu Store”
Shimonoseki Chofu Store is located at 1-41-8 Chofu Saigawa, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It becomes Matsuya’s second store in Shimonoseki City, following the existing Matsuya Shimonoseki Hieda Store (1716; 9-31 Hiedanakamachi, Shimonoseki City). The earlier Shimonoseki Hieda Store is a standalone store without a Matsunoya co-location, and the two stores are roughly 8.1km apart in a straight line. Shimonoseki Chofu Store is the only Matsunoya co-located Matsuya in the city.
With this opening, Matsuya now has 9 stores in Yamaguchi Prefecture, of which 8 are co-located with Matsunoya. In a prefecture where Matsunoya co-location is the majority format, Shimonoseki Chofu Store follows the same pattern.
Both Stores Opened Exactly as Announced on September 3
Both stores were listed in the official store information on September 3 with the note “Opening October 1 at 10:00,” and today that notation along with the scheduled opening date and time has been removed. 27 days passed between the announcement and the opening, following the same pattern seen before — advance listing followed by opening on schedule, with no change in date or time this time either.
Opening Amid a Rush of New Stores Since September
The openings of Matsusaka Kamatacho Store and Shimonoseki Chofu Store are part of a continuing string of new store openings since September. Following Kagoshima Tenmonkan Store on September 17 and Matsuya Sayama-dai Store in Saitama Prefecture on September 30, Matsusaka Kamatacho Store and Shimonoseki Chofu Store opened today, October 1. The opening of Matsuya Okinawa Hiyane Store in Okinawa Prefecture is announced for the following day, October 2, making this a particularly busy period for new store openings.
The pace of new store appearances has held at roughly 5 to 10 stores per month since April 2026, with 6 stores newly listed in September. These two openings fit within that trend, with no unusual increase or decrease. Rather than “first-ever openings,” both represent a solid expansion pattern — each being the second store in its respective city.
Editor's Note
As announced in September, Matsuya stores co-located with Matsunoya have now joined the lineup in both Matsusaka and Shimonoseki. Both are the second store in their respective cities.
