Matsuya's 'Set Meal of Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa' Discontinued 28 Days After Launch

MenuDiscontinued

At 10:11 a.m. on June 2, 2026, the Set Meal of Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa was delisted from the menu on the Matsuya official website. The discontinuation came 28 days (four weeks) after its May 5 (Tue) launch, making it the first removal among the three “Taco Rice-series items” that had been marked for discontinuation on May 21. The two Bowl-category items, Taco Rice (580 yen) and Sausage & Egg Taco Rice (760 yen), remained listed on the menu as of 10:19 a.m. today — so among the three taco-based items, only the Hamburg Steak Set Meal version has been delisted so far.

The Set Meal of Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa was one of three summer menu items launched simultaneously on May 5, 2026, alongside Taco Rice and Sausage & Egg Taco Rice. It came in two sizes: a Set Meal (with miso soup and salad) and an Only version.

Variation Price Calories Protein Fat Carbohydrates Salt Equivalent
Set Meal 990 yen 1,028 kcal 37.9g 43.5g 113.8g 5.5g
Only 790 yen 624 kcal 29.8g 41.3g 28.9g 3.9g

It paired Taco Salsa sauce with Matsuya’s Hamburg Steak in an unusual combination. At 1,028 kcal, the Set Meal version had more calories than Taco Rice (637 kcal) and Sausage & Egg Taco Rice (793 kcal), making it the most substantial of the three items.

Discontinuation Came 12 Days After the May 21 Notice

In the menu update on the morning of May 21, all three Taco Rice-series items were tagged with the note “*To Be Discontinued Successively” at once. Twelve days passed between that notice and the actual delisting, with the Hamburg Steak Set Meal version being the first of the three to go.

As of the May 21 discontinuation notice, Taco Rice and Sausage & Egg Taco Rice were included in the “Bowls & Taco Rice Bundle Deal Campaign” (May 19–31, up to 250 yen off), while the Set Meal of Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa was excluded from the campaign. The one item that received no sales push became the first of the three to be removed, with the delisting landing today, two days after the bundle deal campaign ended.

Current Status of the Remaining Two Taco Items

As of 10:19 a.m. today, the remaining two Taco Rice-series items are still listed on the menu.

Menu Item Price Calories Listing Status on the Morning of June 2
Taco Rice 580 yen 637 kcal Still listed (marked “*To Be Discontinued Successively”)
Sausage & Egg Taco Rice 760 yen 793 kcal Still listed (marked “*To Be Discontinued Successively”)
Set Meal of Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa 990 yen 1,028 kcal Delisted at 10:11 a.m. today

The two Bowl-category items are also subject to the same discontinuation notice, marking the stage where the shared-sauce, shared-ingredient three-item lineup has begun to break apart.

Overlap With This Morning’s Sweeping Hamburg Steak Lineup Renewal

At 10:00 a.m. today, June 2, the Hamburg Steak Set Meal lineup underwent sweeping changes all at once: the launch of six items in the “Overflowing Three-Kind Rich Cheese-Filled Hamburg Steak” series, the restructuring of the existing three items in the Umatoma series and the Demi-glace Egg Hamburg Steak series into a four-tier size lineup, and the discontinuation of five items including those in the Demi-glace series and the Omu-demi (omelet demi-glace) series. The delisting of the Set Meal of Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa was a separate move driven by the 10:11 a.m. menu update — the scheduled execution of the May 21 discontinuation notice — but it happened to be sorted out on the same morning as the large-scale Hamburg Steak lineup renewal.

Editor's Note

Taco, salsa, and Hamburg steak — a three-layer combo that served its four weeks well.
