Matsuya has made the same mistake again. In the notice for the October edition of its subscription pass, MATSUYA PASS, published on September 25, the space between “MATSUYA” and “PASS” in the title was a full-width space, and it was changed to a half-width one the next day, September 26. The exact same full-width space fix happened just three months ago, in the notice for the July edition.
Second Time in Three Months, Same Spot
At the time of publication, the space between the words in “MATSUYA PASS” in the title was full-width, but by the next day, September 26, it had been changed to a half-width space. The same expression in the body text had been written with a half-width space from the start, so this fix brings the title and body into line.
The same full-width space fix also happened with the July edition’s notice. The July edition was published on June 22 and changed to half-width on June 26. While the July edition took four days to be corrected, the October edition was fixed the day after publication. Notably, the notice for the March 2026 edition shows no sign of this space, so the full-width space has slipped in on two occasions: the July and October editions.
The New “App Version” in the October Edition
The notice whose wording was corrected is itself a major overhaul of the MATSUYA PASS subscription pass. Starting this time, a new “App Version” purchased inside the official Matsuya app has been introduced, making a two-format lineup alongside the conventional “Card Version.”
The price is 200 yen, and you can buy eligible items at a discount as many times as you like during the period. The discounts are 100 yen off set meals and 70 yen off beef bowls, curry and rice, and other bowls (morning meals and some menu items are excluded). The usage period is 30 days from the start date of use for the App Version, and from October 1 (0:00) to October 31 (23:59) for the Card Version. As for purchase periods, the Card Version went on sale from 10 a.m. on September 22, and the App Version from 10 a.m. on September 26.
The notice image places a panel for the “App Version,” labeled “New Release,” next to a panel for the “Card Version” shaped like the October card, with the 200 yen price and up to 100 yen off shown prominently.
Support for the app has been advancing in stages. During the July edition’s period, the official X account explained that a mechanism allowing use via the Matsuya app had been introduced. That was mainly support on the usage side, through Mobile Order, whereas this time the support is on the purchase side, with the pass bought inside the app.
Also, on the night of September 24, the day before the official notice was published, the official X account gave a casual preview, saying “We’re doing Matsu Pass again from October” and “From this time, there will be two types: [Matsuya App Version] and [Card Version]!!!”, and announced that “details on the App Version will come later.” The official notice on the 25th was that detailed announcement.
How Many Uses to Make Back the 200 Yen
The 200 yen price is the same as the side dishes “Extra Cheese,” “Rice (Regular Serving),” “Simmered Beef & Onion cooked with Sweet Soy sauce, served in Small Dish,” and “Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg.”
The discount rate works out higher the cheaper the item is. For items eligible for 70 yen off, the cheapest, a beef bowl (Regular Serving) at 460 yen, comes to about 15.2%, and a 690 yen item comes to about 10.1%. For items eligible for 100 yen off, a 790 yen item comes to about 12.7%, and a 1,180 yen Hamburg Steak Set Meal comes to about 8.5%.
To make back the 200 yen, you come out ahead after 3 uses for 70-yen-off items, or 2 uses for 100-yen-off items. Given the 30-day usage period, the difference is likely to be bigger for people who already eat at Matsuya regularly.

Editor's Note
A full-width space we saw fixed just three months ago has shown up in the very same spot again. We can't help wanting to check the next edition, too.
