Matsuya Updates Late-Night Suspension Schedules at 71 Stores Across Tokai and Kinki in One Batch
This article has a newer version
On October 17, 2026, it emerged that the operating-hours listings for a total of 71 Matsuya stores across the Tokai and Kinki areas had their temporary late-night suspension schedules rewritten all at once. The changes fall into two main patterns: at 37 Kinki stores in Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Shiga, and Wakayama, the previously posted temporary suspension notices were removed entirely and the listings reverted to regular operating hours, while at 27 Tokai stores — including every location in Gifu and Mie and most of those in Aichi — the schedule switched to new suspension dates in the latter half of October (October 16–31). In every case, this is not a store closure but an update to the schedule of planned suspensions covering only part of the late-night hours.
37 Kinki Stores Have Their Temporary Suspension Notices Removed, Returning to Regular Hours
At the 37 Kinki stores — 21 in Osaka Prefecture, 7 in Hyogo Prefecture, and 3 each in Kyoto Prefecture, Shiga Prefecture, and Wakayama Prefecture — the temporary late-night suspensions that had been set for the first half of October disappeared from the operating-hours listings.
Matsuya Hanshin Amagasaki Store (0095) returned from “24-hour operation *Temporarily Closed Oct 8: 2:00 to 4:00, Last Order 30 minutes before closing” to a plain “24-hour operation” with the notice removed. Matsuya Kishiwada Store (0096) likewise had the “*Temporarily Closed Oct 3: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day” notice removed from its listing of “Mon–Thu: 5:00 to 3:00 the next day, Fri: from 5:00, Sat: 24-hour operation, Sun: until 3:00 the next day, Last Order 30 minutes before closing.” At Matsuya Kire-Uriwari Store (0110), the “*Temporarily Closed Oct 4, Oct 11: 2:00 to 5:00” notice disappeared, and the listing now shows “24-hour operation.”
The same shift happened at 7 stores in Aichi Prefecture as well. Matsuya Imaike Store (0247) had its “*Temporarily Closed Oct 5, Oct 10, Oct 12: 2:00 to 4:00” notice removed and reverted to “24-hour operation.” In every case, the removed notices had been set for the late-night-to-early-morning hours between October 3 and October 15, and they dropped off the listing because that period had already passed.
27 Tokai Stores Switch to Late-October Suspension Schedule
At the 27 Tokai stores — 19 in Aichi Prefecture, 5 in Gifu Prefecture, and 3 in Mie Prefecture — new suspension dates from October 16 onward replaced the first-half schedule.
Matsuya Otsudori Nishiki Store (0506) changed from “*Temporarily Closed Oct 3, Oct 10, Oct 11: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day” to “*Temporarily Closed Oct 17, Oct 24, Oct 31: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day,” and Matsuya Toyokawa Store (2222) changed from “*Temporarily Closed Oct 5, Oct 7, Oct 12, Oct 15: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day” to “*Temporarily Closed Oct 21: 22:00 to 10:00 the next day, Oct 29: 0:00 to 9:00.” Matsuya Mikawa-Anjo Store (0340) now reads “*Temporarily Closed Oct 19, Oct 26: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day, Oct 23: 0:00 to 9:00,” and Matsuya Toyota Yamanote Store (0390) reads “*Temporarily Closed Oct 19, Oct 24, Oct 26: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day, Oct 21: 22:00 to 8:00 the next day, Oct 23: 5:00 to 8:00” — in both cases, the suspension dates are clustered in the latter half of October.
In Gifu Prefecture, Matsuya Gifu Akanebe Store (0267) now lists “*Temporarily Closed Oct 18, Oct 21, Oct 24, Oct 25, Oct 31: 5:00 to 9:00, Oct 20, Oct 27, Oct 29: 2:00 to 6:00, Oct 23: 0:00 to 6:00,” packed densely through the end of the month. In Mie Prefecture, Matsuya Matsusaka Daikokuda Store (1978) is now set to “2:00 to 24:00, Last Order 30 minutes before closing *Temporarily Closed Oct 16 through Oct 31: 22:00 to 8:00 the next day,” meaning the late-night suspension continues throughout the second half of October.
Stores Affected by Prefecture
Looking at this round’s 71 stores by prefecture, none are in the Kanto region — the changes are confined to eight prefectures across Tokai (Aichi, Gifu, Mie) and Kinki (Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Shiga, Wakayama). The split between stores that returned to regular hours and stores that switched to the late-October schedule falls cleanly along regional lines: all five Kinki prefectures returned entirely to regular operation, Gifu and Mie switched entirely to the late-October schedule, and only Aichi had a mix of both.
| Prefecture | Stores Affected | Returned to Regular Hours | Switched to Late-October Schedule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aichi Prefecture | 26 | 7 | 19 |
| Osaka Prefecture | 21 | 21 | 0 |
| Hyogo Prefecture | 7 | 7 | 0 |
| Gifu Prefecture | 5 | 0 | 5 |
| Shiga Prefecture | 3 | 3 | 0 |
| Kyoto Prefecture | 3 | 3 | 0 |
| Wakayama Prefecture | 3 | 3 | 0 |
| Mie Prefecture | 3 | 0 | 3 |
| Total | 71 | 44 | 27 |
Aichi Prefecture had 26 stores affected this time, roughly half of its 54 stores statewide. By municipality, Nagoya City had the most with 9 stores, while apart from Toyota City’s 2 stores, the other 16 municipalities each had just one. Osaka Prefecture had 21 stores, about a fifth of its 112 stores in the prefecture, led by 7 stores in Osaka City followed by 3 in Kishiwada City.
Second Large-Scale Batch Update in October
This is not the first time the late-night suspension schedule has been rewritten in bulk — on October 1, a batch update covered 74 stores across Tokai, Kinki, and Hokuriku, switching the schedule from September to October all at once. This latest update comes 16 days after that one, making it the second large-scale update in October. These batch updates have been repeated mainly across Tokai and Kinki; at the individual-store level, Matsuya Gifu Noritake Store had its late-night suspension notice disappear and revert to “24-hour operation” back on August 17. Within Aichi Prefecture, bundled updates covering around 10 stores at a time have also continued into September, and Mikawa-Anjo Store and Toyota Yamanote Store were included in that round as well.
Editor's Note
The late-night suspension schedules got cleared away entirely in Kinki, while Tokai shifted to the second half of the month. When the split falls this cleanly along regional lines, it's hard not to pull up a map of the prefectures.
