Available at 30 Stores Across Seven Prefectures Including Tokyo and Osaka

The participating stores span seven prefectures. The store count by prefecture is as follows.

  • Tokyo: 7 stores (Hibarigaoka, Jindaiji, Hoya, Funabori, Mizue, Minamisunamachi, Shinozaki)
  • Saitama: 6 stores (Tsuruse, Higashi-Omiya, Fujimino, Kita-Urawa Higashiguchi, Omiya Taiseicho, Kawaguchi Sakaecho)
  • Osaka: 6 stores (Minami-Ibaraki, Sone, Hanaten, Yao Honmachi, Miyakojima Kema, Okamachi)
  • Chiba: 4 stores (Kita-Koganei, Inage, Higashi-Funabashi, Matsudo Nanaseware)
  • Kanagawa: 4 stores (Kashimada, Tsurugamine, Saginuma, Yako)
  • Aichi: 2 stores (Anjo Nishikimachi, Nonami)
  • Hyogo: 1 store (Itami)

The Greater Tokyo area (Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa) accounts for the majority with 21 stores, while the Kinki region has 6 stores in Osaka and 1 in Hyogo, and the Tokai region has 2 stores in Aichi.

Two Chinese-style Items Discontinued After About a Week as Lineup Changes

Coinciding with the new plate’s debut, two store-limited items that had been on the menu since their June 30 launch have been discontinued.

  • Black Mapo Tofu Set Meal
  • Stir-fried Vegetables with Beef and Wood Ear Mushroom / Beef Bowl with Stir-fried Egg and Wood Ear Mushroom

Both were Chinese-style menu items offered at 70 stores, and their run ended about a week after launching on June 30. Store-limited items often rotate on short cycles — in May as well, one item was added while two others were discontinued in a simultaneous lineup change.

Choice of Sauce Includes Signature “Umatoma,” a Plate Packed with Matsuya Character

“Umatoma,” one of the sauce options for the Hamburg Steak, is a tomato-based sauce beloved as a Matsuya staple. Paired with the other option, “Brown,” it lets customers vary the flavor to their liking. The plate brings together familiar Matsuya elements such as Yakiniku-style Boneless Short Rib and Mt. Fuji Kimchi, making it easy to put together a “leave the main dish to us” meal for takeout. The change marks a shift in the store-limited approach — from a Chinese-style, side-dish-oriented set meal to an assorted plate built around takeout.

Editor's Note

Leave the main dish to Matsuya for just 800 yen, and agonize happily over Umatoma or Brown sauce. Getting this much satisfaction from a takeout order feels almost unfair.
