Matsuya Updates Late-Night Closure Schedules to Late September at 66 Stores Across Tokai, Kinki, and Hokuriku
This article has a newer version
Matsuya has, by September 13, replaced the “Temporarily Closed” schedules—covering late-night hours during which operations are suspended—at 66 stores spanning 10 prefectures across Tokai, Kinki, and Hokuriku, switching them over to dates in the latter half of September, according to store information on Matsuya’s official website. “Temporarily Closed” here does not mean the store itself is closing; it refers only to suspending operations during specific late-night-to-early-morning hours on particular dates. None of the stores’ basic operating formats—whether 24-hour operation or continuous operation from early morning through late night—have changed this time. What changed is only the schedule of which dates the late-night hours are suspended.
The dates for late-night-only closures shift to late September
At many stores, suspension dates that had already passed were dropped, and the listings were updated to add new dates in mid-to-late September.
Matsuya Kire-Uriwari Store (0110) previously displayed “24-hour operation *Temporarily Closed 9/6, 9/13, 9/14: 2:00 to 5:00,” which has changed to “24-hour operation *Temporarily Closed 9/14, 9/20, 9/27: 2:00 to 5:00.” In both cases the store closes for three hours from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., with the target dates shifting into the latter half of September.
Matsuya Kishiwada Store (0096) keeps its basic hours unchanged—“Monday to Thursday: 5:00 to 3:00 the next day, Friday: from 5:00, Saturday: 24-hour operation, Sunday: until 3:00 the next day”—while its Temporarily Closed listing has been substantially expanded with dates through the end of September, changing from “9/11, 9/12: 22:00 to 5:00 the next day, 9/13, 9/14: 2:00 to 5:00, 9/15: 2:00 to 8:00” to “9/14: 2:00 to 5:00, 9/15: 2:00 to 8:00, 9/16, 9/23, 9/26, 9/29, 9/30: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day, 9/19: 5:00 to 9:00, 22:00 to 9:00 the next day.”
Matsuya Okazaki-Kita Store (0425) also keeps its basic 24-hour operation unchanged, while its Temporarily Closed listing has been updated from “9/6, 9/13: 22:00 to 9:00 the next day, 9/7: 22:00 to 6:00 the next day, 9/12: 5:00 to 8:00, 9/15: 1:00 to 9:00” to “9/15: 1:00 to 9:00, 9/20, 9/21, 9/27 to 9/29: 22:00 to 8:00 the next day, 9/23: 3:00 to 9:00, 9/26: 22:00 to 2:00 the next day.” The hours and number of days suspended vary by store, and there is no common target date shared across all of them.
Nine stores see their suspensions lifted and revert to “24-hour operation”
Among the 66 stores updated this time, nine had all of their previously listed Temporarily Closed dates already pass without any new suspension dates being added, so their listings reverted to showing only “24-hour operation.” These are Matsuya Komaki Store (0473), Matsuya Mukogawa Store (0560), Matsuya Mikage Store (0783), Matsuya Minoh Store (0968), Matsuya Hamadera Store (0995), Matsuya Moritaka Store (1712), Matsuya Takarazuka Yasukura Store (1852), Matsuya Gifu Toei-cho Store (2153), and Matsuya Tondabayashi Store (2167).
Komaki Store, for example, changed from “24-hour operation *Temporarily Closed 9/1: 5:00 to 9:00” to simply “24-hour operation,” with the late-night suspension notation dropped entirely. In none of these cases has the store’s operation itself ended—they have all returned to operating normally, including through the night.
Hirokoji Hommachi Store changes its base hours by day of the week
While the other 65 stores saw only their late-night suspension schedules updated, Matsuya Hirokoji Hommachi Store (0194) alone had its basic operating hours themselves changed. It previously showed a single listing of “9:00 to 22:00,” which has switched to a day-of-week format: “Sunday to Thursday: 9:00 to 22:00, Friday: from 9:00, Saturday: until 22:00,” meaning the store now runs continuously from 9:00 a.m. Friday through 10:00 p.m. Saturday.
66 stores across 10 prefectures, with Aichi and Osaka accounting for roughly 70%
The 66 stores whose schedules were updated this time are concentrated in Aichi and Osaka, which together account for roughly 70% of the total, followed by the remaining prefectures across Kinki, Tokai, and Hokuriku.
| Prefecture | Number of Stores |
|---|---|
| Aichi | 24 |
| Osaka | 22 |
| Hyogo | 5 |
| Gifu | 5 |
| Wakayama | 4 |
| Kyoto | 2 |
| Ishikawa | 1 |
| Fukui | 1 |
| Nara | 1 |
| Mie | 1 |
A substantial share of Aichi’s existing stores are included in this update, as are roughly one in five of Osaka’s. That said, none of the addresses, coordinates, or store names have changed this time—only the operating-hours listings have moved.
Late-night suspension schedules are updated roughly every two weeks
This is not the first time late-night suspension schedules have been batch-replaced for stores across the Tokai, Kinki, and Hokuriku areas. On Matsuya’s official website, a similar batch update covered 60 Tokai and Kinki stores on August 31, and 10 Aichi Prefecture stores on September 6, with the listings rewritten to new dates roughly every two weeks. This latest round of 66 stores is the newest installment in that pattern, advancing the schedule from the first half of September—updated on August 31—to the latter half of September.
At the affected stores, early-morning or late-night hours are suspended on certain days, but since the stores’ basic operating formats remain unchanged, daytime and evening use is unaffected.
Editor's Note
If you're planning to stop by late at night or early in the morning, it's worth checking the target dates before heading out.
