On September 26, 2026, Matsuya began selling the app version of its subscription pass, MATSUYA PASS. It went on sale inside the official Matsuya App starting at 10:00 a.m. that day, priced at 200 yen (tax included). That evening, the official X account also announced it, saying, “MATSUYA PASS [App Version] has finally arrived.” This is the second format to launch, following the card version, which had already gone on early sale in stores from September 22, 2026.

Valid for 30 Days No Matter When You Start, 200 Yen for Unlimited Use

The announcement image lays out the key points of the app version. The validity period is “valid for 30 days no matter when you buy it,” the price is 200 yen, and it can be “used any number of times during that period.” Set Meals get 100 yen off, and Curry and Rice, Bowls, and Beef Bowl get 70 yen off, while Morning Meals and some other items are excluded. A plate of yakiniku and a bowl of Beef Bowl, representing the eligible items, are shown in the center of the image.

The Difference from the Card Version Is Where the Validity Period Starts

The difference between the app version and the card version lies in how the validity period is counted. The existing card version is valid for a calendar month, from the 1st to the last day of each month, whereas the app version is valid for 30 days from the day you start using it. Even if you start partway through the month, you’re guaranteed a full 30 days, as the official X account explained: “Unlike the card version, [it’s valid for 30 days no matter when you start].” However, use can only begin from October 1, 2026 onward. The price is the same 200 yen for both the card version and the app version.

Arriving Three Days After the Advance Notice

This app version was first previewed in an official X post on September 24, 2026. That day, Matsuya posted, “We’re doing Matsu Pass again starting in October,” and “This time, believe it or not, there will be two types: [Matsuya App Version] and [Card Version],” while noting that details on the app version would follow “at a later date.” The next day, September 25, the official website’s announcement revealed the details: a price of 200 yen and a sales start date of September 26, and sales actually began on the 26th. The opening line, “finally arrived,” picks up on that earlier “at a later date.”

Rather than tracing the full text of the official announcement, the X post condenses it down to a single point—the difference in validity periods between the two versions—stating, “Unlike the card version, [it’s valid for 30 days no matter when you start].” The remaining details, such as the eligible menu items and how to purchase, are left to the link placed at the end of the post.

A Subscription Pass That Reappears Every Three Months, Priced at 200 Yen All Three Times

MATSUYA PASS is a subscription pass first announced in February 2026; the March version was limited to Matsuya stores only and could only be purchased at the ticket vending machine. After an interval of about three months, it made a “comeback” in June 2026 as the July version. The July version expanded coverage to Matsunoya, My Curry Shokudo, Shoken Chinese Dining, Matsutaro, Steak-ya Matsu, and Steak Set Meal Matsugyu, and also became scannable through the Matsuya App. After the July version (valid July 1–31, 2026) ended, an interval of about two months followed before this October version arrived. The price has stayed at 200 yen for the March version, the July version, and the app version alike, with only the eligible brands and how it’s used expanding with each round. This October version is the first time the card version and app version have been offered simultaneously.

A Discount Card Project Also Existed Back in 2020

Matsuya has also had discount card projects in the past. In October 2020, there was a free “MATSUCA 0-Yen Subscription Pass,” offering 30 yen off Beef Bowl and Curry and Rice, 50 yen off Classic Bowls, and 70 yen off Yakiniku Set Meals, usable any number of times during the period. It was redistributed again in December of the same year as a “comeback.” Although there’s a difference between a free coupon and a paid 200-yen subscription pass, the discount amounts have been raised from the 30–70 yen range back then to the current 70–100 yen.

Editor's Note

Since you get a full 30 days from the day you start, it's a relief not having to rush and use it all up before the end of the month.
