Matsuya's Official X Account Announces Today's Opening of Tochigi's 10th Store, 'Mibu'
Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) announced at 18:13 on June 30 that “Matsuya/Matsunoya Mibu” in Tochigi Prefecture opened today. Amid a hectic day, the post read, “There are so many new menu items and test-sale items starting today, I don’t know where to begin tweeting,” while inviting customers with, “We look forward to welcoming many of you.”
Tochigi’s 10th Store, and the Prefecture’s First in a County Area
Matsuya Mibu (store No. 2297), a 24-hour store co-located with Matsunoya at 1-3382-22 Omocha-no-Machi, Mibu, Shimotsuga District, Tochigi Prefecture, opened today, June 30, at 10:00 a.m. This brings the number of Matsuya locations in Tochigi Prefecture to 10, and marks the first store in a county area (Shimotsuga District) to join the prefecture’s network, which had until now been limited to the cities of Utsunomiya, Sano, Oyama, Tochigi, and Ashikaga. The “Omocha-no-Machi” address is a residential district name in Mibu centered on Omocha-no-Machi Station on the Tobu Utsunomiya Line, named after an area where toy manufacturers were once concentrated.
The Place Name “Mibu” Exists Outside Tochigi, Too
The post also added, “The place name Mibu apparently exists outside Tochigi, too.” Indeed, there is also a “Mibu” in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, known for Mibu-dera Temple, associated with the Shinsengumi.
Editor's Note
On a day packed with new menu debuts one after another, a new Tochigi store quietly joined the lineup. It's read "Mibu" — worth remembering for your next conversation starter.
