Matsuya Machida Store Reopens at 3 PM After About 13-Day Temporary Closure

StoreTemporarily Closed

Matsuya Machida Store (0107) in Machida City, Tokyo, reopened at 3 PM today, September 15, ending a temporary closure that had continued since 3 PM on September 2. The closure lasted about 13 days, reopening exactly on the date that had been shown on the official website’s store information as of August 21. On the official website’s store information, the temporary closure notice that had been attached is now gone, and the listing has returned to the standard “Matsuya Machida Store” label. In this case, as in the others below, it was the store itself that suspended operations entirely, not a suspension limited to a specific time slot such as late-night hours.

The closure began at 3 PM on Wednesday, September 2, and reopening came at 3 PM on Tuesday, September 15. It appears to have been a short-term closure for renovation or equipment updates, but the store information announcement did not state a reason. Machida Store is a standalone store not co-located with a Matsunoya or My Curry Shokudo, located at 4-4-15 Haramachida, Machida City.

All Three Stores Announced in August Have Now Reopened

Machida Store’s temporary closure was announced on the official website’s store information on August 21. At the same time, two other stores were also shown as temporarily closed: Kawasaki Ginzagai Store (0154) in Kawasaki City, and Toshimaen Store (0909) in Nerima Ward. Both of those stores reopened as scheduled ahead of Machida Store. Toshimaen Store, which is co-located with a Matsunoya, closed at 8 AM on September 1 and reopened at 10 AM on September 3. Kawasaki Ginzagai Store closed at 3 PM on September 4 and reopened at 3 PM on September 14. With Machida Store’s reopening this time, all three stores announced on August 21 have now returned to operation as scheduled.

Store Closure Began Reopened Closure Duration
Machida Store 3 PM, September 2 3 PM, September 15 About 13 days
Kawasaki Ginzagai Store 3 PM, September 4 3 PM, September 14 10 days
Toshimaen Store 8 AM, September 1 10 AM, September 3 About 2 days

At about 13 days, Machida Store’s closure was longer than Toshimaen Store’s two-day closure and closer in length to Kawasaki Ginzagai Store’s 10 days. For all three stores, the exact dates and times of both closure and reopening had been made clear in advance.

Matsuya’s Presence in Machida City and Tokyo

Within Machida City, there are five Matsuya locations including the now-reopened Machida Store. Machida Nakamachi Store (0285), Obirin Gakuen Store (0306), Tsurukawa Store (0771), and Tamagawa Gakuen-mae Store (0908) are all still operating, and customers were able to use these as nearby alternatives while Machida Store was closed. Because multiple stores are spread across the city, the impact on customers when one store closes for renovation or similar reasons tends to be relatively small.

Tokyo, where Machida Store is located, has 337 Matsuya locations, more than any other prefecture in Japan. It is followed by Kanagawa Prefecture with 112, Osaka Prefecture with 111, and Saitama Prefecture with 103.

Editor's Note

All three stores announced together in August have now returned as scheduled. With Machida Store open again, we can't wait for that first bowl back.
