On September 15, Matsuya’s “Low-Carb Support” category, which groups its low-carb menu items, disappeared from the menu on the official Matsuya website. The five items remaining in the category were all delisted at the same time: the Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce Fresh Vegetable Salad Set, the Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce and Sunny-side Up Fresh Vegetable Salad Set, the Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce and Cheese Fresh Vegetable Salad Set, the Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib Fresh Vegetable Salad Set, and the Yakiniku Beef Fresh Vegetable Salad Set. The category itself has been removed from the menu list. This was not a swap of individual items; the whole slot that bundled the low-carb menu is gone.
“Fresh Vegetable Salad Sets” Were a Uniform 40 Yen Cheaper Than Set Meals
A “Fresh Vegetable Salad Set” is a low-carb version of a set meal with the same contents, with the rice removed and fresh vegetables added. All five items delisted this time were priced 40 yen below the set meal of the same name. The 40-yen gap was the same for every item and every size.
| Menu item | Fresh Vegetable Salad Set | Set Meal |
|---|---|---|
| Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce (Single) | 790 yen | 830 yen |
| Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce (Regular) | 1,140 yen | 1,180 yen |

| Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce and Cheese (Single) | 990 yen | 1,030 yen |

Brown Sauce Hamburg Steak Delisted After Two and a Half Months
The three Brown Sauce Hamburg Steak Fresh Vegetable Salad Sets (plain, with Sunny-side Up, and with Cheese) had only just been introduced, as the low-carb versions, on June 30. That was the same day the regular “Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce Set Meal” returned after about seven months (previously reported). From their debut in Low-Carb Support to this delisting was 77 days, so the Fresh Vegetable Salad Set versions of the revived hamburg steak lasted about two and a half months.
The three were variations on the same hamburg steak with different toppings; the one with a sunny-side up egg was the Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce and Sunny-side Up Fresh Vegetable Salad Set.
The one with cheese was the Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce and Cheese Fresh Vegetable Salad Set, the highest-priced of the three. All three were delisted on the same day.
Earlier, on June 2, three Fresh Vegetable Salad Sets in the same Low-Carb Support category had been delisted: the Umatoma Hamburg Steak Fresh Vegetable Salad Set, the Cheese Umatoma Hamburg Steak Fresh Vegetable Salad Set, and the Half-and-Half Beef Umatoma Hamburg Steak Fresh Vegetable Salad Set (previously reported). The hamburg steak Fresh Vegetable Salad Sets were swapped once, from Umatoma to Brown Sauce, and have now disappeared along with the whole category.
Yakiniku Beef and Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib Stayed Since Late March
The Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib Fresh Vegetable Salad Set and the Yakiniku Beef Fresh Vegetable Salad Set (both 850 yen) were already in Low-Carb Support as of late March, and they stayed listed from then until now without ever being swapped out. While the hamburg steak items were rotated midway, these two remained until the end of the category.
The seasoning of the yakiniku beef in the Yakiniku Beef Fresh Vegetable Salad Set has also been carried over to the “Matsuya’s Yakiniku Beef Bowl” (630 yen), a bowl menu item released on August 11 (previously reported). The regular Yakiniku Beef Set Meal (890 yen) remains on the menu, but the Fresh Vegetable Salad Set version was delisted along with Low-Carb Support.
A Category That Vanished Without Announcement
No announcement about the end of this category has appeared in the news on the official Matsuya website or on the official X account. At 10 a.m. the same day, September 15, the “Miso Soup with Pork & Vegetables Set,” which had been previewed on the official X account the day before, went on sale, so the menu was already in the middle of a changeover. The low-carb “Fresh Vegetable Salad Set” option, which drops the rice, can no longer be found in the current menu list, at least.
Editor's Note
Some people surely counted on fresh vegetables in place of rice. It feels a little lonely when something just disappears without a word.
