Matsuya Extends Business Hours at 6 Stores in Saitama and Miyagi, Including Tobu Kasumigaseki Store

StoreUpdated

Matsuya’s store listings show that the posted business hours for 7 stores in Saitama and Miyagi Prefectures were rewritten around the same time. Six of them extended their hours by opening earlier or closing later, moving uniformly toward wider early-morning and late-night operation. The remaining store, Sendai Ogimachi Store (1332) in Miyagi Prefecture, left its own business hours unchanged; the only change there was the removal of the business-hours note for its co-located Matsunoya.

The Affected Stores: 5 in Saitama, 2 in Miyagi

The stores whose listed hours changed this time are, in Saitama Prefecture, five stores: Tobu Kasumigaseki Store (0487) in Kawagoe City, Tokorozawa Wakasa Store (0727) in Tokorozawa City, Sayamashi Ekimae Store (0893) and Sayama Negishi Store (1774) in Sayama City, and Hanno Namiyanagi Store (1848) in Hanno City. In Miyagi Prefecture, two stores: Sendai Itsutsubashi Store (1755) and Sendai Ogimachi Store, both in Sendai City. All are revisions to existing stores’ hours; none involve new openings or closures.

Hanno Namiyanagi Store is the only Matsuya currently operating in Hanno City. Sayamashi Ekimae Store and Sayama Negishi Store are 2 of the 3 stores currently operating in Sayama City, where a fourth store, Sayama-dai Store, is also set to open on September 30.

What Changed at Each Store

The before-and-after listed hours for the 7 stores are as follows.

Store Before After
Tobu Kasumigaseki Store 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. 4 a.m. to 2 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing
Sayamashi Ekimae Store 5 a.m. to 2 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing 4 a.m. to 2 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing
Hanno Namiyanagi Store 5 a.m. to 3 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing 4 a.m. to 3 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing
Tokorozawa Wakasa Store 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing 6 a.m. to 3 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing
Sendai Itsutsubashi Store 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing 8:30 a.m. to 1 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing
Sayama Negishi Store Weekdays: 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Sat/Sun/holidays: 5 a.m. to 2 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing Weekdays: 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Sat/Sun/holidays: 5 a.m. to 3 a.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing
Sendai Ogimachi Store 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. *Matsunoya: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Tobu Kasumigaseki Store, Sayamashi Ekimae Store, and Hanno Namiyanagi Store all moved their opening time an hour earlier, from 5 a.m. to 4 a.m., so all three now open as early as 4 a.m. Tokorozawa Wakasa Store pushed its closing time back from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m., and Sendai Itsutsubashi Store pushed its closing time back from 12:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sayama Negishi Store kept its weekday hours of “9 a.m. to 2 a.m.” unchanged, extending only its Saturday/Sunday/holiday closing time from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. All 6 of these stores line up in the direction of expanding operating hours rather than shortening them.

Sendai Ogimachi Store: Only the Matsunoya Hours Note Was Removed

Unlike the other 6 stores, Sendai Ogimachi Store’s own business hours of “7 a.m. to 2 a.m.” did not change. What changed was the note appended at the end of the listing, “*Matsunoya: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Last Order 15 minutes before closing,” which was removed, leaving the listing simplified to “7 a.m. to 2 a.m.” with no note attached. In the store listing, it continues to be treated as a store with a co-located Matsunoya.

This kind of tidy-up — where a store’s own business hours stay unchanged but the separate note for its co-located Matsunoya disappears — was also seen in August. In mid-August, the co-located hours note disappeared at stores including Koshigaya Gamo Store in Saitama Prefecture, and at Matsuya Kawajima Store, the note about Matsunoya’s pickup hours was removed from the remarks field. This case at Sendai Ogimachi Store can be described as the same kind of listing cleanup.

Hour-Extending Changes Have Stood Out Since Summer

Across Matsuya as a whole, business-hours revisions that move opening times earlier or closing times later have stood out since this summer. From April through June, there were also a certain number of changes that included suspending or shortening late-night operation, but recently, revisions that widen hours have been more common. None of the 6 stores in this case has fully switched to 24-hour operation, but in that they all expand their business hours, they line up with this broader trend.

Editor's Note

Three more Matsuya locations now open as early as 4 a.m. That's a perfect time slot for breakfast while you wait for the first train.
