On September 8, 2026, the entire “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” series disappeared at once from the menu page on Matsuya’s official website. The four items are a standalone bowl, a Double with twice the roast beef, a Founding Beef Curry and Rice topped with roast beef, and a Beef Bowl version. All were delisted 42 days after their July 28 launch. On August 25, the four items had been marked “※To be discontinued successively,” so this outcome followed that notice exactly.

Four Items That Held the High-Price Tier in Bowls, Curry and Beef Bowls

In their respective categories, all four sat at the upper end of the price range.

“Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” (Only, 880 yen) sat in the middle of the current Bowl category lineup (630–1,180 yen). It was cheaper than the Boneless Short Rib & Offal Bowl (990 yen) and the Grilled Eel Bowl (980 yen), and pricier than the Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl and the Beef Bibimbap Bowl (690 yen each).

“Double Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” (1,470 yen) was the most expensive item in the Bowl category, 290 yen above the current category high, the Eel Combo Beef Bowl (1,180 yen).

“Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Founding Beef Curry and Rice” (1,380 yen) was the most expensive item in the Curry category, 310 yen above the current category high, the Founding Beef Loin Cutlet Curry and Rice (1,070 yen). The base Founding Beef Curry and Rice has remained on sale as a regular item through price revisions, and this was a limited-time plate with roast beef added on top.

“Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Beef Bowl” (1,150 yen) stood far apart from the regular Beef Bowl lineup (460–690 yen). It was about 2.5 times the standard Beef Bowl (460 yen) and 460 yen above the category’s highest-priced item, the Beef Bowl topped with Tomato and Cheese (690 yen).

42 Days After Launch, Delisted as the August 25 Notice Indicated

The series went on sale at 10 a.m. on July 28, 2026, and all four items were discontinued together on September 8. The sales period of 42 days is on the longer side among limited-time bowl, curry and beef bowl items that appeared around the same time.

The end notice was applied to all four items at once on August 25, roughly two weeks before the actual discontinuation. Matsuya’s official X account had also given advance warning on August 23, posting, “Matsuya’s roast beef is ending soon! If you haven’t tried it yet, hurry!”

An Autumn Staple Launches the Same Day a Summer Menu Exits

September 8, the day the four roast beef items vanished, was also the day Matsuya’s autumn staple, the “Stir-fried Pork and Eggplant with Spicy Miso Set Meal,” went on sale at 10 a.m. Now in its 18th year since its debut in 2008, this autumn dish arrived as a replacement for the summer indulgence menu.

The same day, the dessert “Soy Milk Pudding,” which launched on July 14, also left the menu. It had likewise been announced in advance on the official X account on August 28 with “it will be ending soon.” Summer’s limited-time items all exited together as the autumn menu launched.
