Matsuya Discontinues All 4 'Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef' Items After 42 Days

On September 8, 2026, all four items in the “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” series disappeared at once from the menu page of Matsuya’s official website. The lineup consisted of the standard bowl, a Double version with twice the roast beef, a curry version served over Founding Beef Curry and Rice, and a version paired with Beef Bowl — all four were delisted 42 days after their July 28 launch. A “*Will be discontinued successively” notice had been attached to all four items since August 25, and this delisting came exactly as that notice had signaled.

Four Items That Topped the Price Range in the Bowl, Curry, and Beef Bowl Categories

Each of the four items sat at the high end of the price range within its respective category.

“Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” (Only, 880 yen) fell in the middle of the current bowl category lineup (630–1,180 yen) — cheaper than the Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl (990 yen) and the Grilled Eel Bowl (980 yen), but pricier than the Kimchi Kalbi Bowl and Beef Bibim Bowl (690 yen each).

“Double Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” (1,470 yen) was the most expensive item in the bowl category, exceeding the current top price in that category, the Eel Combo Beef Bowl (1,180 yen), by 290 yen.

“Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Founding Beef Curry and Rice” (1,380 yen) was the most expensive item in the curry category, exceeding the current top-priced curry, Founding Beef Loin Cutlet Curry and Rice (1,070 yen), by 310 yen. The base dish, Founding Beef Curry and Rice itself, is a mainstay that has remained on sale continuously through several price revisions, and this was a limited-time dish that topped it with roast beef.

“Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Bowl” (1,150 yen) stood well apart from the regular Beef Bowl category lineup (460–690 yen) — about 2.5 times the price of the standard Beef Bowl (460 yen), and 460 yen higher than the top-priced item in the Beef Bowl category, Umatoma Cheese Beef Bowl (690 yen).

Delisted 42 Days After Launch, Exactly as the August 25 Discontinuation Notice Predicted

The series launched at 10:00 a.m. on July 28, 2026, and all four items were discontinued together on September 8. The 42-day sales period places it on the longer end among limited-time bowl, curry, and Beef Bowl menu items that have appeared during the same period.

The discontinuation notice was attached to all four items simultaneously on August 25, roughly two weeks before the actual delisting. Matsuya’s official X account also posted on August 23, urging customers in advance: “Matsuya’s roast beef will be ending soon! If you haven’t tried it yet, don’t miss out!”

An Autumn Staple Launched the Same Day the Summer Menu Exited

September 8, the day the four roast beef items disappeared, was also the day Matsuya’s autumn staple “Stir-fried Pork and Eggplant with Spicy Miso Set Meal” launched at 10:00 a.m. First introduced in 2008, the dish is now in its 18th year as an autumn item, arriving as if to trade places with the summer’s indulgent menu.

That same September 8, the dessert “Soy Milk Pudding,” launched on July 14, also vanished from the menu. Soy Milk Pudding had likewise been announced in advance on the official X account on August 28 with a “coming to an end soon” notice. The summer’s limited-time menu items exited together, in step with the launch of the autumn menu.
