Matsuya's Official X Account Shares a Tasting Photo of the Runny-Yolk 'Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef'

Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted a photo on the evening of July 30, saying it had tried the new “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” that went on sale on July 28. Writing “We tried the ‘Roast Beef’ that just went on sale this week!”, the account shared a shot of the dish at the moment the egg yolk is about to be broken.

The Moment the Yolk Breaks, a Plate Dressed in Two Sauces

The photo centers on thin slices of roast beef laid across a plate, topped in the middle with grated radish and an egg yolk. The roast beef in front is covered in a dark reddish-brown sauce flecked with coarsely chopped garlic, while a white, creamy sauce is spooned over the left side. Plenty of what appears to be Kujo green onion is scattered on top. The photo catches the tip of a chopstick poking the yolk, and the official account described it this way: “The sight of the yolk breaking and spreading out so silkily left us completely mesmerized.” It added, “Above all, that look is just unfair,” playing up the dish’s appearance.

“Roast Beef at Matsuya”: From Launch to Tasting Post

Roast beef is a novelty on a Matsuya menu built mainly around beef bowls and set meals, and the official post itself acknowledged the surprise: “Being able to eat roast beef at Matsuya makes you feel a little bit luxurious.”

This tasting post is not a one-off but the capstone of a series of announcements. The launch was first previewed in an official notice dated July 23, and on the evening of July 24 the official X account announced it again with a photo of the actual dish. The dish went on sale at 10:00 on July 28, and a launch-commemoration Follow & Repost Campaign (1,000 Matsuya Points for each of 30 winners drawn by lottery, with entries accepted through August 3) started the same day. The July 30 tasting post came two days after the launch, as part of that sequence.

Four Varieties, With the Only Version at 880 Yen Including Miso Soup

“Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” comes in four varieties: the Only version, a “Double” with a larger portion, a “Founding Beef Curry and Rice” version paired with curry, and a “Beef Bowl” version served over a beef bowl. As of July 30, all of them were still listed and on sale.
