Matsuya's Official X Account Shares a Taste-Test Photo of the 'Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef,' Egg Yolk Oozing Out
On the evening of July 30, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted a photo showing that it had tried the new menu item “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef,” released July 28. The post read, “We tried the Roast Beef that went on sale this week!,” accompanied by a photo capturing the moment just before the egg yolk is broken.
The Moment the Egg Yolk Breaks: A Dish Dressed in Two Sauces
The photo centers on thinly sliced roast beef laid across the plate, topped in the middle with grated radish and an egg yolk. The roast beef in the foreground is covered in a deep reddish-brown sauce mixed with coarsely chopped garlic, while a white, creamy sauce is drizzled over the left side, and the dish is generously topped with what appears to be Kujo green onion. The photo captures the exact moment the chopsticks poke into the egg yolk, and the official account described it as “the sight of the yolk spilling out the instant it broke was mesmerizing.” The post praised the presentation itself, saying, “This visual alone is just unfair.”
From Launch to Taste Test: The Path Behind ‘Roast Beef at Matsuya’
Roast beef is a novel addition to Matsuya’s lineup, which is centered on Beef Bowl and Set Meals, and the official post itself touched on the surprise factor, saying, “Getting to eat roast beef at Matsuya makes you feel a little bit spoiled, doesn’t it?”
This taste-test post was not a standalone piece but the capstone of a series of announcements. An official notice dated July 23 first previewed the launch, and the official X account followed up on the evening of July 24 with another announcement featuring photos of the actual product. The item went on sale at 10 a.m. on July 28, and the same day saw the start of a launch-commemoration follow-and-repost campaign (1,000 Matsuya Points awarded by lottery to 30 winners, with entries accepted through August 3, 2026). The July 30 taste-test post came two days after launch, as part of that same rollout.
Four Variations Available, Single Item Comes with Miso Soup for 880 Yen
The “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” comes in four variations: the single item, a larger-portion “Double,” a version paired with curry called “Founding Beef Curry and Rice,” and a version served over rice called “Beef Bowl.” As of July 30, 2026, all four remain listed and on sale.

| Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Beef Bowl | 1,150 yen |
| Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Founding Beef Curry and Rice | 1,380 yen |
| Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Double | 1,470 yen |
The lineup spans a range of price points, from the single item for enjoying the roast beef on its own, to the Double for those seeking more volume, to arrangements combining it with curry or Beef Bowl. The single item comes with miso soup for 880 yen.
Editor's Note
Just one photo of that egg yolk being poked is enough to make you want a bowl of plain rice. Two days after launch, it seems the official account really wants to push this dish.
