Matsuya Swaps Featured Image on Drinks List for "Relax Jasmine Tea"
It has come to light that the featured image displayed on the drinks category listing page of Matsuya’s regular menu changed on September 15. The bottle photo of the unsweetened “Blended Tea” that had been used until then has been replaced with a bottle photo of “Relax Jasmine Tea,” newly released that same day.
How the Featured Image Changed
Before the swap, it was a photo of a brown-toned PET bottle filled with amber-colored contents. The label was based in brown and prominently read “This One Bottle for Your Meal’s Oil,” with a brown-toned cap as well. The unsweetened “Blended Tea” had been positioned as the face of the drinks category.
After the swap, it has been renewed to a pale yellow bottle. The words “Relax JASMINE” and “Jasmine Tea” are written in light blue lettering, with an illustration of white jasmine flowers placed at the center. The cap is white, the background is also yellow-toned, and the contents are a pale yellow. The color scheme differs greatly from the old image, which was uniformly brown-toned.
The Drink Lineup Change Behind It
The featured image swap appears to reflect a drink lineup change that took place on the same day, September 15. The unsweetened “Blended Tea” (120 yen) was discontinued, and in its place two new items were added: “Relax Jasmine Tea” (140 yen) and “Oi Ocha Koicha Premium Strong” (160 yen). The face of the listing page has also switched, from the now-vanished Blended Tea to the newly lined-up Jasmine Tea.
Concurrent Moves Around Oi Ocha
The lineup of unsweetened teas has effectively shifted from the brandless “Blended Tea” to Ito En’s “Oi Ocha” series. The day before, on September 14 at 18:38, Matsuya’s official X account posted about the “meeting” between Ito En’s official character “Oi Ocha-kun” and Macky. Then, at 10:00 on September 15, to commemorate the launch of “Relax Jasmine Tea” and other items, a Follow & Repost Campaign (deadline September 21) was announced, offering a chance to win an Oi Ocha-kun plush toy and other prizes by lottery. The featured image swap comes amid a broader renewal of tea-based drinks accompanied by promotion, not merely a simple item swap.
Editor's Note
A swap that completely changes the first impression of the list at a glance. With pale yellow jasmine lined up, even the drink shelf looks a little cooler.
