The Only Matsuya in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture — Komatsu Hinodecho Store — Switches to 24-Hour Operation

On August 10, 2026, it was learned that the operating hours of Matsuya Komatsu Hinodecho Store (2221) changed from the previous “3:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the following day (last order 30 minutes before close)” to 24-hour operation. The one-hour closure between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. has been eliminated, and the store now operates around the clock. It is the only Matsuya location in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

The one-hour late-night closure that had continued since opening is now resolved

Since its opening on March 28, 2026, Komatsu Hinodecho Store had consistently kept its standard operating hours at “3:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the following day.” Under this arrangement, the store closed for just one hour, from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m., an operation that had continued for about four and a half months since opening. With this change, that boundary has been removed, and the store has switched to full 24-hour operation for the first time since it opened.

In the past, the official website had repeatedly announced schedules for late-night closures on specific dates. Most recently, in mid-July, that closure notation was removed and the hours reverted to “3:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the following day.” This time, the one-hour closure window itself has been eliminated.

In Ishikawa Prefecture, 5 of 7 stores now operate 24 hours

Seven Matsuya stores are currently operating in Ishikawa Prefecture. With this change, the stores now on 24-hour operation number five: Komatsu Hinodecho, Nonoichi Chuo-dori, Kanazawa Kodai-mae, Kanazawa Masuizumi, and Kanazawa Shimeno. The remaining two stores have set operating windows — Kanazawa Masanagamachi operates from 2:00 a.m. to midnight, and Kanazawa Kamiyachi operates from 6:00 a.m. to midnight — neither reaching 24-hour operation.

Also, 6 of the prefecture’s 7 stores are multi-brand locations that co-locate the tonkatsu chain Matsunoya, leaving Kanazawa Masanagamachi as the only standalone Matsuya format in the prefecture. Komatsu Hinodecho is also one of the Matsunoya co-located stores.

Nationwide, 24-hour operation is the majority

Nationwide, more than 80% of the roughly 1,210 currently operating Matsuya stores run 24 hours, making a format like Komatsu Hinodecho’s — with a set late-night closure window — the minority. With this change, the store now joins that majority.

Around the same time, other regions have also seen a string of switches from shortened hours to 24-hour operation. On August 7, five stores in Mie and Aichi prefectures switched to 24-hour operation all at once. This change, bringing the only Matsuya in Komatsu City into the fold, fits within that same trend.
