Matsuya’s store-limited menu item ‘MATSUYA DELI Hamburg Steak & Boneless Short Rib Plate’ (800 yen) was delisted from the store-limited menu page on Matsuya’s official website on September 1, 2026. It had launched at 10:00 a.m. on July 7, 2026, as a takeout-only item at 30 stores across 7 prefectures, including Tokyo and Osaka, making its run just under two months before being discontinued.

A Takeout Plate Combining Hamburg Steak and Boneless Short Rib, with a Choice of Sauce

As its name suggests, the ‘MATSUYA DELI Hamburg Steak & Boneless Short Rib Plate’ was sold exclusively for takeout (TAKE OUT). The main hamburg steak came with a choice of two sauces, Umatoma or Brown, paired with yakiniku boneless short rib, Mt. Fuji Kimchi, and potato salad. The price was 800 yen.

The promotional visual carried the tagline ‘Today’s Main Dish? Leave It to Matsuya.’, with a large finished-plate image arranging hamburg steak, yakiniku boneless short rib, kimchi, and potato salad together. The plate itself was a deep blue single dish, with the hamburg steak topped in Umatoma sauce, white potato salad, red kimchi, and thinly sliced yakiniku boneless short rib fanned out across it.

The 30 Stores Across 7 Prefectures That Carried It

The rollout was limited to just 30 stores nationwide, with 21 of them—about 70% of the total—concentrated in the Kanto region (Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa), while the remaining stores were split between the Kansai region (Osaka and Hyogo) and the Tokai region (Aichi). The lineup of participating stores never changed from launch to delisting, remaining the same 30 stores throughout.

Prefecture Number of Stores Stores
Tokyo 7 Hibarigaoka Store, Hoya Store, Minami-Sunamachi Store, Jindaiji Store, Mizue Store, Shinozaki Store, Funabori Store
Saitama Prefecture 6 Fujimino Store, Kita-Urawa Higashiguchi Store, Omiya Taiseicho Store, Kawaguchi Sakaecho Store, Higashi-Omiya Store, Tsuruse Store
Osaka Prefecture 6 Yao Honmachi Store, Minami-Ibaraki Store, Okamachi Store, Hanaten Store, Sone Store, Miyakojima Kema Store
Chiba Prefecture 4 Kitakogane Store, Higashi-Funabashi Store, Matsudo Nanasewari Store, Inage Store
Kanagawa Prefecture 4 Yako Store, Tsurugamine Store, Saginuma Store, Kashimada Store
Aichi Prefecture 2 Anjo Nishikimachi Store, Nonami Store
Hyogo Prefecture 1 Itami Store

All seven of the prefectures involved are areas where Matsuya operates a large number of stores, yet the participating locations made up only a small fraction of that total. In Tokyo, for example, just 7 of the 338 existing stores carried the item, and in Saitama Prefecture, only 6 of 103—both cases amounting to a rollout of just a few percent of all stores.

The Same Day, the Nationwide ‘MATSUYA DELI’ Series Launched

On the same day the plate was discontinued, September 1, 2026, Matsuya launched a new takeout series for the dinner table, ‘MATSUYA DELI,’ comprising 13 items priced from 370 to 690 yen, at Matsuya locations nationwide except for a few stores. While the two share the same brand name, the store-limited plate that was just discontinued (800 yen, sold as a single item) and the new nationwide series in which customers combine individual items (13 in total) are separate offerings, differing in both price and lineup.

Also on September 1, another store-limited menu item, the ‘Seared Rib Finger Bowl,’ was discontinued as well, suggesting that items in the store-limited category are being rotated on a fairly short cycle.

Editor's Note

A takeout plate letting you enjoy both hamburg steak and boneless short rib on one dish—customers near those 30 stores might feel a little lucky to have tried it.
