It went on sale at 10:00 a.m. on July 7, 2026, as a takeout-only item at 30 stores across 7 prefectures, including Tokyo and Osaka, so it was discontinued after just under two months.

A Takeout Plate with Hamburg Steak and Boneless Short Rib, with a Choice of Sauce

‘MATSUYA DELI Hamburg Steak & Boneless Short Rib Plate’ was sold exclusively for takeout (TAKE OUT), as its name suggests. The hamburg steak at its center came with a choice of two sauces, ‘Umatoma’ or ‘Brown,’ and was paired with yakiniku-style boneless short rib, Fuji-san kimchi, and potato salad. The price was 800 yen.

The promotional visual carried the tagline ‘Today’s main dish? Leave it to Matsuya,’ and prominently showed the finished plate with the hamburg steak, yakiniku boneless short rib, kimchi, and potato salad arranged together on a single plate. The deep blue plate held the hamburg steak topped with Umatoma sauce, white potato salad, red kimchi, and thinly sliced boneless short rib, fanned out in an arc.

The 30 Stores in 7 Prefectures That Carried It

The rollout was limited to 30 stores nationwide. The Kanto region (Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa) accounted for 21 stores, or 70% of the total, while the Kansai region (Osaka and Hyogo) and the Chubu region (Aichi) made up the rest. The list of participating stores did not change from launch to delisting; the same 30 stores carried it throughout.

All seven prefectures are areas with many Matsuya locations, but only a small fraction of stores carried the item. In Tokyo, for example, it was sold at 7 of the 338 existing stores, and in Saitama Prefecture at 6 of 103, a limited rollout at the level of a few percent in each.

The Nationwide ‘MATSUYA DELI’ Series Launched the Same Day

On September 1, 2026, the same day the plate was discontinued, Matsuya launched ‘MATSUYA DELI,’ a new takeout series for the dinner table, with 13 items in total (370 to 690 yen), at Matsuya stores nationwide except for some locations. The brand name is shared, but the 30-store-limited plate that was just delisted (800 yen, a single item) and the new nationwide series (13 items, combined from individual items) differ in both price and lineup, making them separate offerings.

Also on September 1, another store-limited menu item, ‘Seared Rib Finger Bowl,’ was discontinued as well, suggesting that items in the store-limited category are rotating on a short cycle.
