Matsuya's Second Store in Kuki City, Saitama — 'Kuki Shobu Store' — Opens Today

Matsuya opened a new store, Matsuya Kuki Shobu Store (2608), in Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture, on October 27. It is the chain’s second store in Kuki City, following Matsuya Kuki Honchou (2234), which opened this spring.

Location and the Lead-Up to Opening

Matsuya Kuki Shobu is located at 4011 Shobu, Shobu-machi, Kuki-shi, Saitama, and is co-located with Matsunoya, the tonkatsu chain. As of October 8, Matsuya’s official store list showed the store’s name with the notice “*Opens at 10 a.m. on October 27” attached to the end. That notice was removed once the store opened at 10 a.m. on October 27, and the listing now appears in the same format as other stores. The notice period, from when the store first appeared in the list to its actual opening, lasted about 19 days.

This opening was one of four new stores nationwide — including Matsuya’s first store in Kani City — that the official site announced on October 8 would open successively starting October 27. The store opened exactly on the announced schedule.

104 Stores in Saitama, 4th Among All Prefectures

With the opening of Kuki Shobu Store, Matsuya’s store count in Saitama Prefecture reached 104. That trails only Tokyo (337 stores), Osaka Prefecture (113), and Kanagawa Prefecture (111), making Saitama the fourth-most-represented prefecture among Matsuya’s 1,225 stores nationwide.

Kuki City now has two Matsuya stores. None of the neighboring cities of Kazo, Gyoda, and Hanyu currently has a Matsuya store, making Kuki City a hub for Matsuya in the northeastern part of Saitama Prefecture.

Co-Location with Matsunoya Is Now an Established Format

Kuki Shobu Store opened co-located with Matsunoya, which serves tonkatsu and tonkatsu set meals. Matsuya stores co-located with Matsunoya now number 45 in Saitama Prefecture and 494 nationwide, all of them still in operation. Housing Matsuya’s Beef Bowl and Matsunoya’s tonkatsu under one roof has become a well-established store format.

Kuki Honmachi Store Followed the Same Pattern Half a Year Earlier

Kuki Honmachi Store, the first Matsuya in Kuki City, was announced in April 2026 and opened on May 9. Shortly after, the opening-date notice that had been attached to its name was removed. Kuki Shobu Store followed the same pattern: it appeared in the store list with a notice attached, and the notice was removed on its opening day. Both Kuki Honmachi Store and Kuki Shobu Store are co-located with Matsunoya, meaning Kuki City went from zero to two Matsuya stores within about half a year.
